I do agree that it feels like it should at least count as part of it.They have been officially appointed and will be working to do their duty as proud Korean citizens.

I'm not korean and my opinion is irrelevant but haven't their achievements earned them exemption? Their influence is huge and if they aren't spreading korean culture i don't know who is? I think lot of us can read hangul even tho we don't know what words mean. I can assure you that without listening to bts that would never happen.
Or If exemption is an issue then they can do a basic training (is that's what is called?). They do more for their country by doing their job than being in the army

BTS is the only reason that I've spent the last almost two years learning Korean (and still going!). Before I became a fan, the only thing I knew about Korea was that my phone came from there and it was next to North Korea. I'm not at all proud of my ignorance, especially at my age, but it's the truth. I got into BTS and became naturally curious about where they came from.
