  • The tweet has been ratioed by jealous pricks but whatever, hope it happens. Poor KArmys are defending them in the comments too saying BTS never said they would not enlist.

It seems like it’s not even Bighit or BTS requesting it (they have never tbh) but the music association and the industry ppl…. Seems like they realise BTS is v important for the economy

  • they're number 1 on billboard for 10 weeks the newest song.. tbh even if they get backlash in Korea they can have more than a big enough career to carry on WW. I hope they get exempt because they deserve it.

This is their economic impact, they more than deserve it. They are singlehandedly reviving businesses, their impact on Korean economy cannot even be quantified. Also they are the biggest moneymakers for the biggest music labels - UMG and CR. They are needed more than ever before, beyond the music industry, what with the pandemic causing economic downturn.

Lets not even get into the soft power they wield.

  • they already should give exemption for all top boy groups, all top football players which are playing in national team, all olympic medalists etc.

I’m sure if their achievements and contribution to their economy/country matches the high standard they(SK) have set, they will be in the conversion too. From the trans article it seems they mention popular subjects of art and sports. So sports players are discussed in the convo too it seemsz

  • This seems to be a continuation of the previous effort to the amend the rules to include artists etc (ofc triggered by bts success in general, but driven by agencies that see a chance to what in the end, amounts to making more money if they dont have to send their idols away to the military).

Even if bts would be given an exemption in the end, i doubt they ever use it? And backlash would still be immense if they did, even if they are BTS. Difference between this and the rules for olympians etc is that those have been in place for decades and have some very specific goals to reach that everyone knows about.

I also dont think using how much money a person generates/bring in would be good metric to go by. It could then be argued that for example the samsung family or other powerful chaebols should never have to enlist either.

  • Isn't it funny that...

It is not BTS who asked for Exemption, it is rest of kpop companies who asked for exemption for their group.

It is not bighit who attended the exemption related assembly, it is rest of kpop companies CEO.

It is not Army who are saying BTS needs to be exempted, it is kpoppies who are saying BTS should not get exempted/if BTS gets, all of their oppas also should get.

But It is not Other kpop groups whom the government, industry, music Associations are trying to offer exemption, they are only offering to BTS.

    The irony. :pepe-joy:

  • They might. But I reckon they serve their country better by carryin on what they're doing right now. But, up to them though.

Yea if they get exemption and choose to use it I have no problem with it.

This BTS hate is so unnecessary, if the Korean Government allows them then that's that. In my opinion not even Koreans should have a problem with it.

  • I think BTS should be exempted. The huge economic & cultural impact. But the last verdict will be of BTS & SK government.

Even if they go for 18 monthes, I along with all Armys have 15 albums, mixtapes, 200+ songs, memories, hundreds of Performances, 150 run BTS, hundreds of Bangtan bombs, bon voyage, soop. ;-)

We will keep enjoying the masterpieces while waiting for them.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

  • Bts said they’ll serve when time comes. They didn't said that they want to enlist

But that expresses that they "want it" because they see it as their duty?

I was referring to the "want" more in the sense that they never said they didn't want it. At this point, you are putting too much emphasis on the wording and I just meant that people should leave BTS alone.

  • I'm just so fkn done with bts being used for this whole scheme. This has been going on for such a long time & they are always the ones getting the hate, backlash,.. linked with this conversation, when they themselves have said again and again that they will serve when called upon.

Seriously, screw those companies. Hope hybe makes a statement to shut people up.

  • But that expresses that they "want it" because they see it as their duty? The 'want' refers to the fact that it will be one day and not tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Lol you really think anyone would say they don’t want to go??? Especially a public figure???

Bts saying they’ll serve when time come is not them saying they Want to serve. It only means exactly what they said they’ll serve when they have to. We don’t know if they want to or not and we will never know because we don’t know bts feelings as we’re not them . All that’s left now is to see what happens with government

What ever happens with the military service happens and I’ll be with bts either way

I always find it funny how Kpop fans want so hard for bts to serve because they somehow think it means their favs will have a chance to become big. Well reality check bts serving won’t stop how big they are if anything them going away to serve will probably make their comeback even more gigantic. No one stands a chance at replacing their success

It’s not the companies this time, it’s the KMCA😭😭😭😭

  • I'm so tired of antis using this subject to hate on BTS, but it's low-key entertaining to see them embarrassing themselves. Even though military exemptions are not a common occurance they aren't as rare either, there's plenty athletes, football players, musicians who have been granted for their merits, why don't we see kpop stans rioting against these people? Oh wait, because they don't care unless is BTS.

Let's face it, BTS is not just a kpop group anymore, they're far beyond that, selling out stadiums worldwide, having a 3 month old song at no. 1 on billboard, bringing in tons of money for their country and being a walking SK advertising. And yet kpop stans acting like they're getting an exemption for winning a music show or a daesang.

Will there be backlash? Yes, but mostly from bitter stans and Susans and Karens from anywhere but Korea.

If they're granted an exemption they have every right to accept it, if they want to serve that's their choice and I'm fine with it.

  • AMEN!!!

  • Interesting.

Honestly, BTS has deserved to be given exemption for few years already ever since like 2018, none other Korean persona have brought to SK as much respect, attention, tourism and economic impact as BTS has done.

I find it interesting how straightforward it is now 'discuss exemption for BTS'. It's been escalating slowly but surely for years ever since BTS hit it big ww, it started from just 'what if' and 'maybe they deserve' went to bending rules to postpone due to this or that reason to now directly discussing the exact issue exactly for BTS. I remember how I said on forum (probably this old one) few years ago that government can slowly step by step softly influence public's opinion so in the end of the day the exception actually might be given and not much would be against it and I see it happening through these years. If BTS will get Grammy it will be a done deal.

Also tbh I don't understand why some fans go with 'even if BTS is given exemption they'll go serve anyway' narrative. First of all, if even commoners don't like that service much and would escape it if possible why would idols or Bangtan would be different? Unless they want rest lol Second, nobody knows members' and, more importantly, hybe's real plans and thoughts about this, there is only appropriate information which public should know out there. Basically, it's better to just wait and see what will happen.

But yeah everything is really very interesting, wonder how that discussion will go.
