I dunno what Gfriend really sounded like (except for Mago which i LOVED) but dont both groups give off the same vibe? 6 member group with great vocals, with concepts that fall outside the usual Twice cutesy and BP girl crush. Plus Mago and So Bad were both retro 80s songs that were MASSIVE BOPS.

STAYC is nothing like GFRIEND proper. That Is the GFRIEND prior to BIG HIT's involvement.

Traditional GFRIEND was much more a nationalistic sort of enterprise (Nation's Girl Group Esque), that cut its tooth on themes of innocence and youthful Korean nostalgia.

Let's put it this way. The old GFRIEND would have never done covers of Doja Cat while cursing.

Totally different vibes and goals.

The Mago GFRIEND was a short lived last minute altered gfriend the came only a the very end when they were under huge turnabout due to company switches and the like. It was not as much representative of what came before.

This is GFRIEND Proper.

ASAP is nowhere near as big as MGT so that alone makes the comparison baseless.

They don't really have many similarities aside from the fact that they're girl groups from small companies. Sonically they're more like early TWICE. But yeah I think this will be a hit for them, ASAP did cute numbers so this may be bigger.
