It's very normal in Asia countries including China, they just mean the colors of skin. We have a lot of other words like yellow skin, pale skin, brown skin.... to describe not only white or black. And when we say that, we don't mean anti or something like colorism in Western countries where white and black are so sensitive, we just simply the colors of skin that someone has (in fact, girls here prefer light tones and men prefer dark ones). Right. They make us become colorism like their countries. How ignorant they are. If the nickname of Lucas was "little white" which is also a common nickname for white dogs in China, they would still laugh and tease him. The problem here is the meaning of the nickname, not the word black or white.

Agree. As an Asian, I'm so annoyed with the way they think our countries have colorism problem like them.
I have heard Chinese people use Xiao to address their younger acquaintances who they are close. I did ask a friend who is a native speaker. The slur is 小黑鬼 not 小黑. With the last character, it means little black demon which is a slur against black people. If the last character isn't there, it's most likely a nickname which, based on what some posters have mentioned here, seems to be the case.
