If you thought your fave's comeback was bad...

  • what kind of behavior would you consider as being a d*ck about it?

Oh I dunno… you KNOW when someone’s being a d*ck - it’s not necessarily specific to exact words or actions. Just, if other people are happy, no need to piss on their chips, you know?

I think it’s fine to say ‘nah, not for me’ or to say you didn’t like something for whatever reasons, but arguing with people who might love something you don’t, putting them down, dragging the group or artist you claim to love in a general fashion, complaining that you feel let down when it is is not up to you *in any way* what kind of music someone releases - those are pretty d*ck moves imho.

  • lol, hey, sometimes having a more private place to vent is really useful

Unfortunately, even there isn't safe depending on the fandom. I've seen people saying that people who didn't like the song should just shut up because they didn't want to read any negativity and that Discord should be a place safe from negativity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I don't live for title-track comebacks, but I would check the whole album for good songs. If the artist or group can do better, I would feel compelled to put the thought out there. If they also have unmet potential, I'd also speak on it. If they consistently put out "under par" material, that's when I would start to roast and/or ignore.

Some people can't be reached by being "squishy" nurturing and encouragement. If making them angry lights a fire to want to challenge themselves to put out better material, mission complete. I would only do it as a last resort though.

  • My two fandoms, or at least those I have contact with, are fortunately open for criticism and negative opinions so I don't get attacked for sharing my very opinionated views.

One bad comeback is not enough to make me drop my faves because they both have big discographies and besides there was never a time where I hated the whole comeback, there are always things for me in the albums it's just that sometimes those things are fewer than I'd prefer (happened only once with Super Junior during the Mr Simple era which I think was by far their weakest album)

  • Unfortunately, even there isn't safe depending on the fandom. I've seen people saying that people who didn't like the song should just shut up because they didn't want to read any negativity and that Discord should be a place safe from negativity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess it depends on the purpose of the cord. I wish there was a place that people felt like they could be honest, but it wasn't a place of bashing.

  • there's always a difference in the language used when judging or responding to songs one didn't like...

I always write something like I gave a listen and it's not for me...

instead of this song is trash and I cannot believe they would released something this bad...
