It also depends on a financial status of both later, if going to more dates + if you go on dates regularly, that the same person doesn't always pay.
50/50 is a no way for me, we don't do that here, it's one or another (unless there is a big crowd of people, or a couple of couples or something, but that's not a date, right?)

Whoever asked for the first date if affordable to me where we are going , I would try to grab the bill to show demeanor.
If that first date went on so well, I would insist on paying the bill, she wanted to share the money I will tell her to pay in next date.
Should the date ended up flipping birds to each other halfway I will say need to pee and disappear

depends what kind of date it is
for example if it's going to cinema together then maybe
guy can pay for tickets
girl can pay for cola and popcorn?
but if it's just going to grab a coffee or eat ice cream then guy should pay
but later on if it's already paid, and you will stay longer in same place then it's cool when girl offers hey I wanna try this cake you want one too?
