I mean physicals aside, people got really heated when BTS started coming for the top 3rd gen group digitally.
Was it due to fanwars? The GG-digitals vs BG-physicals debate? "GP" supremacists? I've wondered this for a while.

People thought they are more “fandom driven” then after a comeback after another the theory they made up ain’t working nor is it adding up. Then add Melon changing their system which affected a lot of other groups but not them.
Also, digimon was only associated with IU and 1 boy group. People feel a certain way when change happens and when your in a category that others don’t deem you as will create problems.

Change is hard to accept, but when BTS kept proving people wrong, it had to happen eventually.

It's not the only time too
When big groups won a ton of Daesangs before BTS, people were okay with it. But when BTS started winning Daesangs, people were like "Ew they should give other groups a chance"
Honestly it's probably cause the big groups weren't well 1 group winning everything every year...
BB won a ton but that was in 2015 or something ...exo won a ton but it was 2014-2015 or something & not every award
