How do you read "y/n" when you see it out there?

I just put my name there or make up a name...it's pretty common when you read fanfics. I don't anymore thou.

As someone who has been playing online games for far too long, the very first thing that came to my mind when I saw y/n was "you noob"

ok in that case I see 2 letters so every normal person would react the same and say that there are these 2 letters ... what else should a person say? Or is this a quiz to proof how good your english is by knowing a full sentense behind this?

I see it as another person. Even when I write I imagine its's someone else.
