And that's not a knock on them. Plenty of groups have gotten popular for reasons out of their control.
But noobs may not even know about this. So it's ok to remind yall every once in a while that kpop is 65% luck.

while that incident boosted their popularity drastically, their song Me Gusta Tu were already doing quite well on chart before the incident.
I agree that luck and timing does play a role. Just like the rising of Twice during fading of 3rd gen GGs
I vividly remember
I remember old forum users acting holier than thou whenever someone laughed at the videos loool
Good times
It's an opportunity.... from a Viral Video.....
Which arguably had a bigger impact than Sixteen which was an MNet show that appeared that year
they were already popular before that
nice try
I wanna see
they already disband, leave them alone
Not until their fans (which tbh is mostly just kpop stans pretending to be fans) stop trying to stir drama.
I wanna see
The video went viral. The members kept falling because of the wet floor but they stood up each time. I commend their efforts
No question that events that make you sympathize with members of a group can lead to the creation of new Fans
Heck the reason I originally gave Twice a go in the first place was when I heard about the Tzuyu Flag incident, it angered me so much that powerful governments could be so petty and demand a public apology from a young girl for such a thing that it made me want to support Twice and ultimately led me to becoming a fan
It's saddening to know that great, less known groups only become successful whenever they got a break, whatever that break may have been.
Because there are so many great, deserving groups that won't get that break.
The Ark comes to my mind, but I'm sure everyone has at least a few groups of which they think 'they're so good! Why didn't they make it big?'
So I'm glad that GFriend had their break, because after it they were able to show what a great, talented group they are that deserved every success they got
I completely forgot about this
does it really matter how you get popular?
