not an old thread being revived, i leave my spotify on random after a playlist and it is set to play music that coincides with what i was listening to and that's how i discovered several of the solo artists i stan, also i discovered them by recs from other artists such as Corbyn posting Amon's song and I fell in love with his music. or the fact i followed imfact and found ungjae created his own company and got into from20, also with corybn's other artists. word of mouth does help.
Why aren't international K-Pop fans interested in solo artists?

I'm one of those people who stan a soloist from a group. I stan Sunmi from the disbanded girl group Wonder Girls.
Most of the soloists I stan come from groups. It's an easier path than simply debuting solo from the start

I don't think it has to do with being international or not. It has to do with the fact that groups are generally more popular than solo artists for all audiences. Groups have the following advantages over solo artists:
- A group dynamic between different members makes for very interesting interactions
- More members = more content
- More members = more frequent content
- 5 people doing dancing great is more impressive than 1 person dancing godly
- Can continue activity when one person needs to take a step back (injury, depression, military duty, etc.)

I don't know what you mean by this. I know what you mean by "It's an easier path", meaning "It's an easier path to stan soloists", but what do you mean by "and simply debuting solo from the start"?

Typo
"Than simply debuting solo from the start"
Soloists that started out from groups are more likely to see initial success because they already have exposure and have fandom support for sales and concerts.

Thanks! I get it now because I was thinking "and simply debuting solo from the start" as "and simply debuting solo from the start as a soloist who has never been in a group" and I was also thinking "and simply debuting solo from the start as a soloist from a group."

Like others say: it's refreshing and unique to see all the interactions between groups
Solo artists have far less opportunities to make funny variety/interactions etc to get to know them
-
-
Because not all of them may like the same solo artist.
Whereas in groups, fans can select specific member biases, then support the groups as a whole if they choose to do so.

It seems like 90% of the attention is focused on groups.
Like almost no i-fans really care about solo artists, despite the trend in Korea moving towards solo artists rather than groups (as you can see from the charts.)
IU gets a mention here and there, but her achievements and comebacks are rarely as hyped as group comebacks.
Music trends almost all over the world tends to favor soloists rather than group, even in East Asia (e.g. China), so why are K-Pop fans primarily interested in groups?
Are they actively promoting outside of Asia?
