Now that izone disbanded:( who is the second most popular kpop gg in japan

  • Wow I’m really surprised. I thought izone was on the same level of twice in popularity or at least a lot closer than this given they have already popular Japanese members.

Do you know if bps songs does better on the charts than izone?

  • Given the info in this thread it was always BP over IZ, IZ never had strong charting and tho BP don't promote there they do better despite selling less. Of new groups Itzy is doing the best but they haven't debuted in Japan yet and can't really compare to BP let alone Twice. Niziu is a japanese group so idt they should be counted but they are doing the best with already having certificates and good sales.

I wonder who will be big in Japan in the future, cause even with Twice reopening the market most groups haven't found real success there. BGs are doing better then GGs there rn with TXT and EN- (and to a lesser degree SKZ and Treasure) so we will have to wait and see.

No IZ*ONE sales in Japan easily beet BP. BLACKPINK hasn't done any specific Japanese releases. For Non Japanese songs or albums they do about the same with around 20K to 40K album sales. But IZ*ONE has 3 individual single releases with actual Japanese songs. Those sold in the 200K range and those got Gold to Platinum RIAJ ratings. BP doesn't have anything close to that in Japan. BP has one RIAJ Gold and about 4 Silvers. IZ*ONE has 2 Platinum and two Gold RIAJ certificates, also one of the Gold certificates is VERY close to a Platinum. Platinum is about 2x a Gold and Gold is about 2x a Silver. Also Silver certificates are only for Steaming which in Japan aren't considered quite as prestigious as bought Albums digital or physical as Japan is a more old school in that regard. Times are changing and digital downloads (which are actually kind of considered physical as far as certifications go) and Streaming are becoming more acceptable and growing.

In contrast (since it is easy as they are so new) NiziU has 3 Platinums (one close to a 2x Platinum) 2 Gold and 3 Silver out of two EP releases.

IZ*ONE is at about the same level as Twice but in Korean releases not in Japan. Same for BP with the exception of their latest Album which BLACKPINK did very well in. Also BP excels outside of Korea/Japanese markets which none of the other groups have.

IZ*ONE Sales in Japan are fairly equal to Japan but Twice is more popular than IZ*ONE. Twice has Twice followers for sales but IZ*ONE has a few though not many of the 48/46 WOTAS. Those guys "mostly guys" are BEASTS There aren't as many as there use to be but the 48/46 groups still sell in the 400K-1000K "constantly". And there are over half a dozen of those groups. But what the google search does is just give a glimmer of what is popular and not what is actually selling. So popularity wise Twice beats IZ*ONE pretty handily. Also at least right now JYPE is the "it" Korean company along with Big Hit. ITZY, and Stray Kids have gotten a fairly sizable boost in the last year or so as far as penetration into Japan even if that wasn't their focus

  • Were izone actually more popular than bp in japan? genuinely asking cause I don't really follow them and I see some people say this often. I know bp have several streaming certifications and can easily tour there

Most people put izone and twice as the most popular ggs in Japan. Probably because Blackpink never promote nor have any Japan comeback while for Twice and izone they constantly had comebacks in Japanese.

So people hardly know Blackpink popularity in Japan. Both Twice and Izone sold a lot in Japan while we basically have no information for Blackpink(physical sales)

  • Other than BP or maybe even RV. I don't see any popular in other group you list.

Actually RV is not that popular in Japan. They don't really show up on google searches (don't know how to metric Yahoo which is also popular in Japan). But discography wise RV is pretty low with ITZY putting out about twice as much per album/single as RV does. Not sure why as SM has a long and very successful track record with Japan and that should have carried over more into Japan than what I'm seeing even if they aren't putting out Japanese releases. I mean BoA basically founded Korean music content in Japan and TVXQ is the highest selling group in Japan from Korea.

  • Izone was 2nd? Outside of physical sales they had nothing. BP and itzy outcharted with ease.

Are you crazy? If you are in fact talking Japan wise, IZ's first three Japanese singles went #2 on Japan's top two charts, #1 and #1 respectively. The highest BP has ever gotten on those two, is KTL at #6. ITZY at the time of your post, charted no higher than #18 on one.
