Twice aren't "anyone successful." They're Twice.
The similar argument can be said to anyone successful enough.

Are successful celebrities not called "stars?" They must have had star power to get to where they are. It wasn't sheer luck. And why are we even still talking about "anyone successful" in a thread about one of the most successful girl groups in history? You're either trying to massively downplay their success or you're going off-topic, and I think I can guess which.

"star factor" is an idea people force into successful acts, not that they became successful because of the "star factor".

Then pray tell, how do successful acts become successful? We know it's not the quality of the music. Lots of big acts with bad music going around and vice versa. We know it isn't simply "big company." While that might help with funding, no one buys albums just because of which record label the act came from. They come for the act itself. So if it's not the act's star power and ability to attract fans, then what is it?
While I agree that Twice has star factor, specially Sana and Nayeon in their early years imo, yes nmixx is an example how people but albums bc of a company. Remember how many copies they sold when nobody even knew who would be the members??
Big companies have big following of fans, but this also doesn't apply to Twice when they were the first gg to actually sell a lot in the gg land.
Sure being from jype was a good advantage, but they are also the exception there and became this big thanks to the members and their music. If not, any other jype group should've their success and we know they don't.
In the end Twice are literally one in a million and their longevity and growth even now shows how the group is indeed full of stars.
I don't think anyone knows how many copies Nmixx were selling. They certainly weren't making any real noise until recently. I don't know where this notion that they were successful right out of the gate due to being from JYPE came from, but they weren't. If anything, they've proven to be late bloomers.
They would most likely be less popular.
They would own East Asia but do worse elsewhere.

I'm not saying they were super successful, I'm saying that their debut album had a blind package where nobody knew who the members were or the music and it sold 61k copies so yes, it sold this much bc of company stans. A quickly search and you'll see what I'm talking about:
"NMIXX's debut album, AD MARE, had strong initial sales, with a limited edition "blind package" selling over 61,000 copies during its short pre-order in mid-2021, and their official debut in February 2022 saw over 227,000 copies sold in the first week, setting a new record for a girl group debut album at the time."
They are having digital success now, but they always did well with physical sales.
And I'm answering this:
in nmixx case what star factor when nobody knew who was going to debut?
But that isn't me saying they lack it, just saying that yes, big4 groups sells more on debut bc of their company, not bc of their music when nobody listened it yet. And yes, this isn't the case with Twice when they literally started being the first jype gg that could actually sell a lot.
Anyways, no fighting, just saying it is possible to sell high bc of the company you came from. It's literally one of the advantages of debuting in a big4. Specially 4th and 5th gen groups.
I don't think there's a single 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen group that could be half as popular as they were in their gen, because Kpop peaked in 2nd and then much more in 3rd gen. So, it's not just TWICE.
There are MULTIPLE reasons why the biggest groups became the biggest. The fact that we don't have ANY Kpop group that is close to SNSD, Bigbang, 2NE1, BTS, TWICE or BP says it all.
They would most likely be less popular.
They would own East Asia but do worse elsewhere.
At a time when Kpop is much more inernational than when they actually debuted? I'm not following. In reality, their international success was largely their own doing, after spending their domestic peak years toiling away in East Asia, but in this new, hypothetical timeline they'd get to mooch off the breakthroughs of others.

Even if we establish that they sold well physically, why wasn't that translating to success in other ways? No one was thinking they were the next big thing just because people were buying their albums without knowing what they were getting. Hell, the company itself could have been buying their albums for all we know. Or maybe it really was oddball company stans. I don't know.
The bottome line is, I feel like the big company argument only makes sense if all acts from the top companies automatically hit it big, while everyone else has to grind extra hard, which we know isn't the case.

Bc physical sales is different from digital sales.
Being big digital wise in SK isn't for anyone, but being big physical wise is for any big4 act, specially in this gen, bc it comes from all over the world. Not just from one country.
So the advantage exists and that's why bgs like NCT, TXT, Enhypen, Treasure, etc that almost don't have digital hits are considered successful bc they sell well and can tour quite well considering their lack of hits in SK.
It's almost illogical for you to deny such a thing actually.. maybe you are denying it bc it's coming from me, but well...
Big4 advantage exists and it's more visible with physical album sales.

Boy bands are low-hanging fruit and sell well physically no matter what, even when no one is paying them any attention otherwise. The biggest boy band on the planet came out of what was a small company at the time. That's XY chromosome advantage, not Big 4 advantage.
And ggs from big companies that aren't hitting big digitally are still selling well, but this case is just for ggs from big4 unless you show me ggs from smaller companies selling as well as nmixx or Baemon for example without hits in SK like them.
So yeah, a big4 advantage. As I said, the denying is unbelievable.
