it's more about religion than about language,
catholic/christians celebrate it
-
-
I honestly dunno lol, I thought maybe it's a thing for Americans only since you mostly read from them. I probably made a mistake by bringing language into this context
-
stay at home
-
It's a religious holiday, so every Christian country celebrates it.
-
Hehe no, it's ok not to know everything and ask questions!
I didn't even know Easter is a big thing in US.
It's a religous holiday, so if you're wondering about Europe, most countries do celebrate. The traditions for Easter are different in every country though. Excuse me if i'm making the wrong assumptions, but i feel like in US is very commercialized, it doesn't look like that much where i'm from (an European country).

Getting all dressed up to go to Church in the Morning. Afterwards Easter is great for Kids. Easter Egg hunting and getting baskets of Candy.
Adults fuss over the children throughout the Day. Have a Ham Diner and BS about stuff.
After Easter what to do with all the hard boiled Easter Eggs before they go bad.

Why are they protesting the government by not going to church? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
The government put restrictions so people won't gather at churches*
-
-
Stay at home and enjoy the outrage from people cursing the government for the restrictions so they won't gather at churches.
Same
I anticipate a storm of people being revolted on on Facebook and other apps when it comes to the government. It will be quite amusing to see the human stupidity get out of people.

And most probably they will barge into church anyway
There is no remedy for human stupidity

Well, of course they will.
They get mad that they can't go to the church on the Easter night because it's their "right". They don't want the government "taking away their rights as Christians".
Here they're already protesting over shops closing at 6 pm and not being allowed to go out after 8 pm.

Lol, same here. Are we from the same country?

Family dinner and stuff.
The same as normal really. We’re not a religious family so never attend church and all of us are adults (my brother is the youngest at 19) so easter egg hunts aren’t really a thing anymore. Just lots of candy and food. Went for a sunny walk along the beach.
-
I'm just gonna hang out with my parents and relax, maybe we'll go hiking with the dogs if the weather is nice. We aren't religious so we don't attend church either. There won't even be a lot of food cause we aren't having any other relatives over cause of lockdown so it's all very laid back this year.

I don't know Are you from Romania?

Yes, it's always nice to find people from the same country as you around Also from neighboring countries.
On the old AKP there used to be like 3 more Romanians : Juliabuhuhu , freakyfantasy (if I remember correctly) and HopeOnTheStreet . Julia isn't active anymore though but there's a chance that the other two are still around.
Btw, doesitneedsaying , another Eastern European to add in your list :P

i didn't even know that today was, what we call "catholic easter"! due to different calendars ours is on may 2 :)
like always, staying at home with family. it's a religious holiday but agnostics and atheists celebrate it too, everyone likes coloured eggs :) religious people go to church but i hope they will refrain themselves from going there this year, which ofc won't be happening.
in my country, both christmas and easter aren't commercial holidays, gifts are either non-existants or a few candies or something like that.
it's always confusing that due to different calendars our easter is on the same date but christmas isn't : S

Our Easter is also on 2nd of May and yeah, it's weird that Christmas is different, but we do like giving and receiving gifts on both Christmas and Easter. Of course, Christmas more so than Easter, but anyways, Easter is not as commercialized as Christmas, since it's mostly the religious spirit of the celebration that's getting focused on.

i have a temperature, i hope i didn't catch covidAhh and yes, I always envied my classmates of Ukrainian and Serbian origins for getting more free days at school than me because of this
huh, yes. in my country Catholics have that benefit; they have off days for orthodox holidays because everyone has off days then, and catholic holidays because that's their religion. :D
