Park Bom opens up about her treatment in YG Entertainment

  • Park Bom opens up about her treatment in YG Entertainment, including mocking her appearance, plastic surgeries, not giving her credit for writing songs, rejecting over 4,200 commercial offers and more:

"They said they made my appearance look like a freak, just to mock me. YG never once paid for my cosmetic surgery. The few procedures I had were all paid for out of my own pocket.

They used me as example to mock people who had plastic surgeries. Even when I went to dermatology clinics, I paid for everything myself.

I wrote all of their songs. They locked me up and made me write every song, except for one. But they never paid me, and even if you search the credits, my name isn't there.

I gave my all for singing, but it never paid off. I was never once allowed to do a magazine photoshoot.

They also used my family. They saw that my aunt was good at cooking, so a this woman from YG went to learn from my aunt's cooking teacher, while calling my family poor and pitiful.

In total, I was offered 4,231 commercial offers, but they were all given to someone else."

  • It's bad, but is it 1002003004006007001000034'64272e trillion won bad?

I mentioned in my other post as some others did too, if she/lawyers went ahead with legal action YG will likely offer a high settlement and if they still refuse and they have enough evidence to back whatever claims she’s making then they will win a larger amount but not that amount she’s suing for!

I don’t think that’s possible :?: however I do think they will leave with a hefty amount

  • Down with YG that evil company

All Kpop companies are as bad as each other but how YGE treated them was awful!

The ugly label came from Knetz I believe but YG used it as part of their marketing turning it into their persona

Kpop companies have been known to not defend their idols/artist against verbal attacks/backlash (up until recently where they’re more active about it?) but joining in on it and capitalizing off it is insane!

  • Even if she's stretching the truth I have no doubt the gist of what she says about mistreatment happened. This is a CEO that called his own gg ugly. If he's that upfront in public imagine what went on BTS

Openly criticizing others' appearances is commonplace in Korea. They literally call anyone overweight a pig to their face.

  • This is tricky! Does CL still keep in touch with Park Bom?

Is it fair to expect others to jump in if they weren’t informed :?:

they are just doing a comeback tour together, attending festival and that waterboom thingy. and CL said 2ne1 will release new album sometimes in the next year.

that's more than keep in touch i think....

and based on the news you share, that sh1t happens back then when they were still active as 2ne1.

ain't that leader job to make sure every member is good? not just herself that doing good?

i think it's fair question, not a tricky one.

  • Ah ok I don’t keep up to date with 2ne1 and its a fair question I just think its tricky on the other members part

I’m sure they all could say stuff but maybe they’re at different places in their lives where they don’t want to get involved/say anything :?:

Especially since taking it to court is a big statement you can’t come back from. A lot of professional relationships will be ruined. I think it’s something the others will need time to consider especially if they weren’t originally informed with this

She probably does support her but not sure she will publicly get involved

I wasn't following kpop much back then, but I knew who CL was. I was shocked to learn a company would say that about her and her group. Then unsure if it was a mistranslation but YG essentially saying created BP to be the prettier version of them was just cold. I feel having your company saying that will destroy somebody's self esteem and confidence.

Also, everything seems bad when digging deeper into this group. If YG didn't value them much, then why hold the brand hostage? It's clear they could've continued because the recent revival was a major success. Unsure how members handled the hiatus but I assume it most likely took a toll on them.

It's sad looking at that picture because it's not uncommon to feel pressured to get PS in this industry. It's why I feel people need to cool down when putting down idols or saying they have a new face. They most likely see comments and it could lead to a dangerous path
