There's definitely a correlation between the popular ones and how much media visibility they have.

  • I gotta say that one stood out to me too. 8mil is good but also little low too, I think is what happens when you don't work for a SM or Hybe because I won't name them 1 or 2 above her that is questionable.

It's what happen when you don't work for SM or Hybe ?

Weird cuz her own colleagues Wonyoung have no problem having so much follower

And the same thing can be say about Yuqi

Actually after comparing all their instagram feed, i would say i totally understand why Yujin is so low in this ranking

Her instagram feed feels very unpersonal to me and doesn't really make me want to follow her

It's very focus on her activity and her shooting so i can understand why Dives would like to follow her to follow her solo activity

But i can understand if you're a non fan that doesn't care about following all their latest activities, yujin ig can be very uninteresting to follow

Cuz it doesn't feel as personal than other idol in the list ig feed, it doesn't gives you more info about what she enjoy to do lately, what are her hobbies, she doesn't share a lot of aesthetic oriented pics

Not really weird they're easily explained. Yuqi has a big Chinese audience. Actually I think the Wonyoung one backs my point more if she was at one of the big companies she'd be in the 20s maybe 30s by now easily. She's stuck in the early 10s for a while. Also went viral at a very young age.

Others who haven't gone viral or from a country in which you gain big followings are all in big companies.

I think IVE as a whole is extremely low

    Wonyoung: 14.9million

    Yujin: 8 million

    Rei: 3.8 million

    Liz: 3.1 million

    Leeseo: 2.5 million
    Gaeul: 2.4 million

I have no clue why their follower count is low because they're a top group but that follower count should be much higher. If you look at Idle for example, IVE is more popular than them but Idle members follower count range from 5 million - 9 million. I know Yuqi and Minnie will have higher follower counts because popular in their home country, but I feel IVE members not named Wonyoung and Yujin should have around 5 million too.

I guess it might have to do the fan demographic for IVE where they might have more younger fans in Korea and I assume they're not using Instagram

  • Agreed. imo, if you’re from a big company, there’s a high chance that regular people, or even those not interested in kpop, will start following you out of nowhere in sk, since they’ll constantly see those faces in ads, on public forums, in promotions, etc. (basically media exposure driven by big companies) It might also be because Aespa has slightly more international fans than IVE. But yeah, the most important factor is definitely coming from a big company, which is where IVE falls short. even wonyoung’s follower count is way lower than it should be.

Agreed and not to start anything, but I feel Wonyoung follower count should be closer to Karina's than Winter's.

Unsure if this is a Starship thing because even a company like Cube managed to have higher follower count than expected. I just think they don't fully maximize on IVE because it feels they should be doing much more in general outside of music. I guess it could be starship doesn't fully market their groups properly. I guess IG follower counts doesn't matter much because Yujin and Wonyoung have a ton of brand deals. I am just unsure if the other members are getting brand deals.

agreed. I think this is a company issue. Wonyoung and Yujin reached these numbers thanks to the recognition they already had from the past. The company doesn’t have enough strategies to increase the members’ visibility, and I see that as a sign of poor management. When we look at it, IVE is currently one of the biggest girl groups in Korea, but apart from those two members, the visibility of the others is extremely limited imo.

  • I'm surprised the men are dominating the top. I thought the women would be doing better since they're more visible with the general public.

    They are.

The problem is that Korea's population is small compare to rest of the world. So even if the men weren't popular with general public, they can earn follower from intl kpop sphere.
