JYP is falling off from the Big 4…once again

  • To me it feels like Jyp is sinking back to how the company was pre Twice when it comes to their ggs. Out of the big 4 theyre the company at the bottom of the totem pole in my opinion.

As far as their ggs go Niziu aren’t as booming as they were as rookies, Itzy reached their peak a long time ago and are just hanging in there, Nmixx will never get off the ground and the experimental music will never make them mainstream, and VCHA is a lost cause atp.

Twice is really the only thing the company has going for it and they’re already a decade into their careers…how long does JYP expect to leach off of them?

SM, HYBE, and YG have all released new groups who are bursting onto the scene. Illit have had an explosive debut and the biggest hit of 5th gen, BABYMONSTER exploded internationally and are slowly making their name in korea, and Hearts2Hearts go viral everyday and are climbing their way up in korea as well.

It’s high time jyp debuted another large girl group with the girl next door vibe that Twice had. That’s the only way I see them actually catching up to speed with the other Big 4.

  • Skz and Twice are still around and doing fine, and most of their acts are still selling pretty well. But when it comes to developing new idols, yup Jyp has really fallen behind.

Itzy had a huge debut, but they've kind of dropped off since 2022. Nmixx never really got a chance from the start. Niziu went from selling 400k to around 200k, and they barely make any noise in Japan anymore. Honestly, does anyone even remember Kickflip, Jyp's newly debuted boy group? And their Chinese bg flopped too. Some of the members even ended up on Boys Planet.

Basically, everything after Itzy just didn’t go well. They got lucky with Twice and then again get lucky with how Skz explode in popularity again in the right moment to help maintain the company’s reputation and financial. But now Skz are already in their seventh year, and there's still no clear next group to carry the torch

  • , does anyone even remember Kickflip, Jyp's newly debuted boy group?

lmaoo actually i learn that they made their first comeback 1 month ago yesterday

and nobody care, i saw nobody talk about it here, on twitter or on reddit

that's harsh, they are suppose to be from a big 4 company and they are getting as much attention than nugu BG

when you compare to how big other 5th gen BG are in korea (TWS, Riize, BND) it's really sad that nobody seem to care abt this group

and JYP stan doesn't even support them cuz after 2 mini album, their sales are lower than NMIXX sales before they even announce their lineup or release any music

  • I agree. JYP heavily relies on their established groups like Twice and Stray Kids. DAY 6 is good but charting isn’t exactly a money making machine for the company. Though it is important to find relevance with the public. Right now that ain’t happening. JYP has to reflect on why that is.

  • I don't think people get it. So many comments and mostly people do not get it. I do not say that company doesn't have business vision. I'm saying "do not follow company vision of business in creating music". It's not about choosing concept or theme for song - all companies do it, depending on time, artists and so on. Others companies also trying have colors for their groups. JYP groups are not that unique. At all.

  • They have one of the top if not the top 4th gen bg, and since it's considered 5th gen they can always debut their girlgroup. Plus I feel like if Nmixx keep going for the experimental route with songs of the same quality as Know about me and High horse they'll maintain a dedicated fandom and continue to grow in more of a boygroup way which will make them successful for a longer time

It's true Twice and Stray Kidz are the top 2 money makers in JYP

But Day6 is catching up, and that says a lot for a Kband
