Stagnated a bit instead of an all out free fall like many were expecting. Not bad

Changed the title of the thread from “Kiss Of Life After The Scandal” to “Kiss Of Life On Spotify After The Scandal”.
  • I will say it's a big drop but it could have been much worse for them. I think their main issue is they have lowered their ceiling because of the scandal. I felt the group was billed as potential because each comeback had a significant increase in all metrics.

Plus, they had many promotional spots and features lined up. I think it's a major thing to have a member appear on albums that feature Nayeon, Irene, and Seulgi. I am always seeing them on major variety shows when I'm on social media. They were most likely expecting double their album sales and stronger streaming.

The major question for them is, can they regain the potential fans they had lost? I felt they had many casual listeners and they might have lost some of them in the long-term

I will just say one more thing. I think their fans need to calm down because I feel they make things worse for the group in how they lash out at people. I think this point will harm the group when people want to give them another chance.

  • I mean, it's literally better than their last 2 releases.

I don't really care, honestly, I only heard the title track, but not the full album, and the TT wasn't that good anyway.

Their sales are good too, so I don't see the problem yet, unless their stats gonna drop later.

They're just the loud minority, I mean, both the fans and people who hating on them. They don't represent their listeners.

If people would skip every Kpop group because of their toxic fans, 90% of people online wouldn't listen to any BTS, TWICE or BP song.😂

  • I think it's case by case because tolerance varies between groups. If a big 4 group does something bad, it's most likely whatever because too big to get shunned imo. However, with groups in smaller companies there's less tolerance when something comes up. Popularity will always play an important part in a group's survival and sustainability.

For Kiss of Life this comeback was the most important because the drop level for this comeback is not too bad. I think they'll be fine because streaming should improve and sales seem just behind their peaks. I think for this group it's more about ceiling may have been lowered because they had a lot of potential fans imo.

  • Honestly they seem fine

The backlash is bigger on like X and reddit but the rest of the world literally don't care

You can't really compare to Igloo Day 21 because Igloo went viral.

Like Igloo wasn't even the title track it was a viral B-side, which KIOF might not necessarily be able to recreate unless their comeback goes viral

  • Honestly they seem fine

The Asian side was never going to be affected. Everyone knew that from the get go. It's the potential for growth in the US that was hampered.

  • Not trying to compare, that was the only tweet I could find about igloo day 1. Til it wasn't even a title track. That's impressive

  • I don't think they are going to disappear or something like that, but I think it's their potential that probably took a hit, but we will see.

It's one of those groups that everyone thought that would do better with every comeback, better streams, sales, tour, etc., but now I don't see them breaking their mid tier group status where their stats are stagnant. But I could be wrong ofc.

  • Yeah, it's always the case that the online backlash usually far exceeds the actual public sentiment.

The number of people who actually care about this is a small portion of the general population. I think the true metric of if this had any true effect on them will be how they tour. How they tour specifically in the US, Canada, and possibly Australia.

Streaming is something that will always fluctuate based on the quality of the song.

  • How are their album sales doing compared to their last album?

    Midas Touch:

1st Week Sales (Hanteo): 69,659 copies sold

Total Sales in South Korea (Circle): 100,607 copies sold

    Lose Yourself:

1st Week Sales (Hanteo): 91,922 copies sold

Total Sales in South Korea (Circle): 120,259 copies sold

So, they're fine. They will sell more than last time, that's for sure.
