Red Velvet at least got to keep their popular members. Oh My Girl not so much. Unsure if they can continue without Arin and YooA but those are the 2 most popular members by a wide margin. I must admit I'm more accepting of a 3-member RV than a 4-member OMG, for reasons that should be obvious, but I think it's too soon to know what the new norm is for either group.

For RV, I personally foresee this trio existing only for SMTown, and then just doing their own thing until they're ready to reunite as 5. I would be surprised if we see an actual comeback with this formation, especially since it's basically just the Irene & Seulgi subunit with Joy third-wheeling it. Obviously potential still exists for special stages, which is what Run Devil Run is, but even I'm a bit perplexed that they chose to have them perform group songs and not their solos for the remainder of the setlist, especialy with Irene's & Seulgi's still being so recent.

For OMG, they could continue performing regularly as 4, or they might not. I think it will depend on the promoter's ability to stomach them as only 4, missing their most popular members. I'm a little surpised they're continuing to perform without them, but these could just be performances they already had booked. There's a good chance they're merely running on steam basically. Their long term prospects likely look a bit more bleak if YooA & Arin continue to be unable to participate.

To be honest I think they should just disband.

Just because you can share your opinion, that doesn't mean it's always worth sharing.

It is a bit sad and gives off this incomplete feeling to me, probably because having only 3 out of 5 members present is a big change. But I think it will be like that, at least for the SMtown concerts. It's kind of like for SNSD, after some members left SMent, they would then have mostly Taeyeon and Hyoyeon perform, but they still came together for their 15th anniversary.

So I think that Irene, Seulgi and Joy might focus more on the subunit or solo activities, but hopefully all five of them can come back together every once in a while, for bigger events.

I almost never watch any content from OMG that doesnt have Yooa in it, unfortunately the other members have never interested me at all. Yooa is the best dancer of 3rd gen tbh (everyone mentions the Big 3 of Seulgi, Momo and Lisa but Yooa clears them), i only wish i had discovered them sooner.

Just like Izone who i discovered literally a few months before they disbanded, i discovered OMG last year and bought their badges a few months ago and now they're defacto disbanded too. I'm the Kiss of Death for GGs tbh.

YooA is very underrated as an idol. I thought her solos releases were solid but her company never promoted them. I agree that she's one of the best 3rd gen dancer. I am not going to rank them, but I've always thought her, Seungyeon, SuA, and Chungha were some of the best dancers that many overlook.

The tough part about all of this whenever this news happens. It most likely means you won't see the other members perform with them or the group is on hiatus. I wouldn't want the group to disband if the 4 of them want to continue because they most likely make decent money performing but it will be hard to watch OMG content without the 2, especially YooA.

obviously that's not to say that they won't return to music - individually or as a group but I think for those three members Irene, Joy and Yeri the acting will be the primary focus

Irene already went into acting five years ago and it didn't work out. She hasn't acted since. I think people continue to underestimate her interest in being a singer. and between her own solo career and her subunit with Seulgi, she should still have plenty on her plate even without RV.

I'm not saying she won't sing or anything like that but I do think she wants to be an actor more so than a singer - you disagree?

She hasn't given any indication of wanting to be an actor more than a singer. She's only had one acting gig over the course of her 11 year career. Perhaps it's out of her control, and she'd be acting more if it were up to her, but it doesn't appear to be something she's actively pursuing.

I always thought that Irene wanted to be more of an actor compared to singer but I guess I could be wrong
