Her funeral was last week and i didn't realize that it needed almost a week to hit me

She only got notified that she had cancer 3 months ago
I thought she'd make it, i really did
Maybe i was too naive or opimistic
I awlays thought i expect the worst, but i didn't expect this.
And i got informed 3 days later, as i called the hospital so i could visit her, cause she could only have 1 visitor a day because of covid.
It just fucking annoys me that i couldn't say goodbye.. And thank you..

All the internet hugs. I'm so sorry about your friend! It's okay to not be okay. Sit with the feeling, acknowledge it, name it, and just let it move through you. It sounds stupid, but it works. It's okay to say to yourself "I'm sad, and that's okay".

In her last message she promised me to meet up when she gets out of the hospital so we can grab some cake and coffee,
she already knew she wouldn't make it when she agreed to my plans
And at the funeral i was tied shut... To see her mom grieving and breaking down after she has lost the last family member made me feel like i wasn't allowed to cry or be in pain
It just felt awful
