  • You seem to have some bad sources lol. I am unsure if it was you but I remember somebody said Lisa had a song with Sunmi and now this^^

I agree that Jennie should have picked a stronger title track, but disagree about handlebar.

I am curious where they go from here because it seems like a decent foundation to see what worked and what didn't. I wonder how they'll balance solo career and blackpink because it seems the latter could get in the way of their aspirations

I swear to God, some BLINKS said this here about Sunmi, also about Jennie will have a self-produced/written Jazz song.

I don't do drugs, I mean other than my pills I have to take for epilepsy and headache. 🤣

The collab with Dua is not bad, it's just like any other Pop collab. I heard much better collab with Dua Lipa too. I'm not a big Lipa fan either, btw. I really liked her OST for the Battle Angel Alita movie, and the collab with Hwasa. That's a much better produced song, even tho it was made in Covid. My biggest problem with the Dua collab is that they don't sound good together, unlike with Hwasa, but that's not fair, because Hwasa is a much better vocalist, so.

After this, I can tell, Jennie has to do slow RnB and Jazz or indie Pop type of music like the collab with Dominic or Gambino. That's her style and suit her voice well. She's a decent rapper, but I'm not sure if rap actually suits her. I don't feel she stands out in the rap side of the industry. At least, not yet! To be fair, I already knew this before her album.

I don't think Blackpink will stand in their way too long. My prediction was that BP will (even if not officially) disband after this World Tour, or maybe they next if YG will give them a 10th Anniversary comeback.

  • That might be an issue with idol rapping. She's fine as an idol rapper but hard to hold your own when paired with actual rappers. I think it's the same sentiment if it's a pop singer trying to rap on a track with an actual rapper. Key for Jennie and Lisa will be for their teams to improve because I find lyrics need to be better especially when it's a song featuring a rapper.

I agree she performs better on an r&b song and she was at her best singing in those type of songs. I am curious if Jennie will tune down the rapping but I think she's decent enough. She just needs to improve the lyrics and delivery and should be fine. The same goes for Lisa and hopefully she can working building a connection with her music.

Blackpink is in an interesting spot where YG needs them more than they need them. There's a lot of money to be made with comebacks and tours but it's taxing. YG needs Babymonster to go another level so they can rely on blackpink less. I can see Blackpink getting this tour out of the way so they can focus on their solo careers

True, that's why I don't like when Idol rappers doing a collab with Western rappers.

For Kpop, Jennie is a decent rapper, yes, but I can't see her doing rap as the main thing. Jazz and soul or funk suits her voice the best, but in Korea you can't chart with those type of songs.😅

I wouldn't bet on Babymon becoming just half as big as BP in the near future, at least I hope! Being popular, especially as a BIG4 group, kills the creative freedom. A group like BM has to have a 100% freedom, but I don't trust YG, at all.

  • I'm reviewing every K-pop release in 2025. How many albums does this site cover? I'm not sure if my nugus and soloists will be there.

Bit surprised that you rate "Damn Right" so highly. If it weren't for "Mantra," it'd be the worse song on Jennie's release.

I saw a lot of people hyping up Jisoo's "Earthquake," but it fell very flat to me. Barely a tremor. "Hugs & Kisses" is very smooth though, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It's my favorite Jisoo song.

"Moonlit Floor" being rated so highly is questionable I have to say. I went and added the song it took inspiration from to my playlist when it came out, but there's no way that song should be rated so highly. It lives in the shadow of the original song, and it's lyrics don't add any sensuality or evoke any type of imagery that you would want with a song like that. I'm still trembling thinking about green-eyed French boys or whatever.

I can't rate Rose's album very high because if I wanted to hear a worse version of 2008 Taylor Swift then I would listen to 2024 Taylor Swift. It's very bland and doesn't distinguish itself from other albums dealing with similar topics. Rose let me down a lot, and Jennie really snatched that music crown that people placed on Rose's head a long time ago.

  • So far, I found every Kpop artists I follow, and that's a lot, and most of them are not popular. With mainstream groups and soloists they add their albums pretty much instantly, but with lesser known artists it can take even a day, but so far, I didn't have a problem like that. My longest wait was like a couple of hours.

I mean, if nugus like Young Posse is up there on the release day, you can find pretty much anyone, I'm sure.

"Damn Right" is kinda my style, slow RnB with decent rap, but honestly, I'm not even sure how it sounds, because I only heard her album once. 😅 Let's just say, the featured artists are the reason it has 7/10 score.

Jisoo's album is the opposite, because I hate EDM, the fact the lowest score is 5/10 says a lot. She's lucky she only had 4 songs, and the B-sides were decent enough to not bang my head to the wall.

Moonlit Floor is only rated higher, because I like the original, it's basically just a decent remix, and it's well-produced. But it's not rated highly because of Lisa. I'm not sure if I'd give 7.5/10 now, but I'm too lazy to change the score. I only do that with albums I'm actually listening to.

I agree about Rose, her album was a light-Swift, but that's her style, honestly. I can't see her doing any other genres.
