Not even trying to meme. How can so many of you be so deep into the culture of K-Pop, in all its parasocial glory, claim to be hardcore (I polled last year and most of you identified as hardcore, so don't lie) and still be so bad at the basics?
So what triggered me this time? Well, I'll tell you.
People.
A group doesn't peak in popularity as high as NewJeans and then get forgotten about. Ever.
Have you looked at the charts recently? Do you see who's on top a decade after their last major album roll out?
Now I'm not putting NewJeans on the level of legacy and career as Big Bang, the eternal Kings of K-Pop, but in terms of digital dominance and accomplishment, NewJeans is the closest group to Big Bang.
I can use other examples.
Sistar. Kara. 2NE1. GFRIEND. SNSD.
Legendary groups are never forgotten, and the public will always anticipate their return. By the way, all of those groups had comebacks or toured, and they all either charted well, sold out their tours or both.
NewJeans is on pace for the highest peak in girl group history. You really think a few months or even a year is enough for the public to "forget" them or "move on"?
Need I remind you? The public has already chosen them as the third most iconic girl group of the 21st century via a Gallup Survey last year?
Don't people know? Legends never die.
Nobody expects BP to flop this year, and they've been gone for 3 years FFS.
Anyways, I guess I'm done ranting. If you don't understand the way the industry works, I'm available for one on one coaching and upskilling.
