Do you prefer to watch performances or listen to music?

    1. Performances (2) 13%
    2. Streaming music (14) 88%

I know we generally listen to music a lot more but I've been finding myself gravitating a lot more towards live performances of my faves rather than going to AM or Spotify to stream their music. They do not even need to be performances where there's too much dancing or visual effects.

I don't know if it's because their performances have become so scarce or is it nostalgia. Is this what happens with 2nd gen fans? Or am I going old? Or is it the kpop parasocial sneaking in. ;judgingpepe::pepe-notes:

Changed the title of the thread from “Do you prefer to watch more performances or listen to music?” to “Do you prefer to watch performances or listen to music?”.
  • i stream more

i don't actively go out finding and watching performances much; if one shows up on my youtube feed and its from my faves, i might go check it out. i used to be a huge performance watcher though, back when i was mainly a bg stan. somewhere along the line they stopped exciting me and i stopped altogether.

  • I am in for the music (as in for the songs) that's why I will even tolerate some performance mishaps. The studio versions are more important to me even though I do appreciate some badass live performances.

I am a classical music enthusiast and that's the music I like to analise and pick apart so I turn to popular music to destress and to clock out for some time. I care for the singing, dancing and performing artfully but most importantly I want nice tunes, releatable emotions and well reflected feelings, everyday vibes and present trends. I want to be connected with the time of my life but I don't have that much time, energy and money to watch all the live performances, shows and to go to far away and costly concerts. I like to dance silly and do the dishes and clean up and walk to work to kpop. So I stream way more then I watch performances.

It turns me off though when 1) the artists don't give their bests or 2) they show disconnectness between each other.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If you get excited about the roughness, liveliness and uniqueness of a live perfomance then it's just as cool as loving the music itself. Do what you love to do!

I'm not saying there's anything wrong in it, but you're right about the roughness and liveliness part. I really like those aspects of live music and I start liking artists after listening to their lives. I also started listening to a lot more Day6 music after becoming obsessed with a few of their live performances.

  • I suppose it depends on my mood.

But if there are performances for b-sides, sure, I'd watch those the first time or even after listening to the music only.

So, to answer, I am leaning more towards performances.

  • I watch performances during comebacks, and only once, i don't rewatch them. When people talk about fancams; I'm sorry but my views aren't included in them lol. I don't even remember when was the last time i watched a fancam. Perhaps during covid?

Anyways, i only care about music and i play it on Spotify and as audio on YouTube.

Well, Day6 had an absolute amazing year!
