Do you prefer to watch performances or listen to music?

  • It depends on the group.

If we're talking about powerhouse performers like Mamamoo, I do both.

If we're talking about average groups (not song quality, but performance wise) I only listen to their songs most of the time.

To be honest, if a group or any singer is a great performer (I'm talking about vocals, rap and stage presence, not dancing) I always prefer LIVE performance, because 99% of the time it's much better than the studio version, especially if they do it with a live band.

  • It depends on the song.

Most songs I start by viewing, and there I find I much prefer live stages than music videos.

After that it is repeat listening while doing other tasks, if then the song makes me pause and focus on it, I have found another favourite.

    Very few songs achieve that.

  • Definitely streaming. Most of the time, I'll never actually watch the MV, and there are plenty of songs that I like that I haven't watched the MV for.

Actually, I just watched miss a's "Goodbye Baby" MV for the first time a few weeks ago despite liking the song for many years now :mesmerized-bee:

  • I watch performances during comebacks, and only once, i don't rewatch them. When people talk about fancams; I'm sorry but my views aren't included in them lol. I don't even remember when was the last time i watched a fancam. Perhaps during covid?

Anyways, i only care about music and i play it on Spotify and as audio on YouTube.

Does that include concert performances as well?

What I see here is a lot of people limiting their definition of performances to music Bank shows and such. Atlleast that's my understanding. But those performances are mostly not live and hence not fun. I was mostly taking about live performances.

And I can't watch individual fancams either. I just find the weird.

  • Mamamoo have some great performances as well. I will always prefer listening decalcomanie live than Spotify.

I wish more groups had live albums for streaming.

Don't get me started with Live Albums. I miss those as well. I don't think anyone released Live Albums anymore. To be fair, most of the groups release their concert DVD's so that's good too.
