What's wrong with a song being "created for social media?"

It's only a bad thing if it's a bad song, and most importantly, the main reason they made it to be more popular.

If I can see much better songs on their albums, I don't care if they release Tiktok songs as a Title Track. Most TT's are average at best. B-Sides shows if an artist really cares about their music. I mean, IF they actually involved in the making.

My biggest problem with the Tiktok songs is that pretty much all of those are short, without a bridge or identity. People think a song has to be shorter than 3 minute to be trendy, but that's not true, at all. On SNS you can only use like 30 second of it? So, what's the point of the short song?

It's not just Kpop, everyone does this for ages, Kpop just catching up as usual.

Also, PLEASE, for the love of GOD, can we stop saying this nonsense:"Fans only hate it, because the songs of their faves are not trending." This is such a childish behavior.

I can't even count how many songs of my multiple faves were trending over the years, but that doesn't mean all of those were good. Just because something is trending (not just music) doesn't mean it's good.

If I could remove one thing from this industry, I would remove this backward thinking.

Nothing wrong but the value of that song will be just that for me.

It's a social media song - it's fun, light, catchy that's about it.

Songs made with musicality in mind just hit different, you can tell - there is a thought, concept, message, song structure, production etc.

E.g Genesis by RAYE

I listen to both of them frequently but my level of appreciation for both is way different.

I never said the songs that don't go viral are crap, but yes, when Lisa Money went viral a looooot of BP haters got salty and started hating the song out of nowhere and I'm saying this based on some behaviors I saw here in akp where they liked the song or thought it was ok at first, but changed their minds when it hit Spotify top 10.

Let's be real, Lisa's MONEY is a hot garbage song, and if it was released by a non-mainstream artist, everyone would say the same. I get that part, BUT you literally started with this:

...and this isn't about Money. My problem is this sentence and mentality. I couldn't care less about trends, everything can trend for a couple of hours/days or even weeks, doesn't mean it's better than everything else.

There are a lot of haters, most of them are just doing that for attention, BUT not everyone who hates MONEY, are jealous of the success of Lisa. For example, I don't hate MONEY or Lisa, I don't care if she's gonna trend for a whole decade without any break, but I won't change my mind and say it's a good song. "New Woman" is hardly a good song, but it's MILES BETTER than anything she put out. Except the "Kiss me" cover but that's not really her song so it doesn't count.

I suppose there's nothing inherently wrong with it but they tend to lack any substance and feel kind of low effort I guess. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that but I'd personally not want to see it start becoming the trend. Just means shorter songs with lower production, no thanks

You mean as something made for tiktok?

Kpop aside, a lot of upcoming artists are being forced by their companies to take off riffs, make their songs smaller, use trendy words etc so they could go viral in tiktok. Obviously it’s a choice and anybody could just not do it, but it makes you think how much potential good songs are not being developed because companies are killing creativity in order to follow trends.

This is something that has happened since music became an industry, yes I know. But is it something you want to support? I may consume some of this music but I understand why it’s not good in the long run.
