Why did so many minorities in America voted republican?

  • People keep saying that Trump is poised to take away the rights of anyone who isn’t white. Yet, many minorities looked past the fact that he has been accused of various offenses and holds views that are often seen as racist and misogynistic…and still, a significant number of women and people of color voted for him. 😭😭

So, what’s going on? The only demographic that strongly supported Democrats was Black men and women. Other groups leaned more toward Republicans.

It seems that Democrats and liberals may have underestimated how many minorities and marginalized groups hold conservative or traditional values too, often shaped by their cultural or religious backgrounds, especially among immigrants. For many, social justice isn’t the top priority…they’re more focused on improving their lives, particularly financially, which is often the reason they came to America in the first place. Because of this, Trump’s message resonated with them. To many, America represents opportunity, and they’re willing to look past issues of racism and discrimination for the chance at a better life.

I feel Democratics completely overlooked this, causing them to lose their votes…

  • Identity politics like using "minorities" are only useful for sometime and some extent. The Left overuses them and expects everyone in the an identity group to behave exactly the same.

A legal Latin American immigrant is no less threatened by the massive influx of illegal immigrants- even if they too are Latin, than a White American - massive illegal migration pushes up costs, reduces public services, pressures wages to Latins too. So for Dems to imagine that all Hispanics will vote for them, assuming they support such open borders was foolish.

Same with Asian Americans, yes DEI might have helped them in the past, but now DEI is hurting them, Harvard & top schools, looking for proportional representation, punish Asians by setting higher standards for them, since Asians tend to dominate higher academics.

    Same with Indian Americans.

Black men too haven't voted for Dems that much, so much so that Obama had come around scolding and then walk back his words.

Even the women vote is overrated, though I have not checked the numbers yet.

Those who know, know that Roe vs. Wade can't be restored at Federal level, at least not this soon after the overturn from SCOTUS. It is a states issue. Aware women would not have fallen for that.

And they might be more concerned about Trans access to their daughters teams/locker rooms.

Abortion for all the noise, is not that big an issue, given how long it has been milked in American politics, there is a lot of fatigue.

Trump never lost popularity, even in 2020 it was close. And Dems did not use the 4 years to fix the big issues. The indictments against him was largely seen as vindictive. They should have gone with one or two really solid cases, but throwing 94+ cases against him, was seen correctly "Law fare", using the law against the political opponent.

But the worst thing they did was to foist Kamala at the last minute. The numbers are showing that many Democrats did not come vote at all.

In 2016, Trump won partly because DNC gamed the nomination to deny the popular Bernie Sanders and give it Hillary Clinton.

In 2024, Trump won partly because DNC elites again foisted Kamala Harris who was not even popular among democrats. She won ZERO delegates in 2020.

Women should win, by competing and not by such shortcuts which displeases party base and they stay home.

  • since the republican party holds a christian stance in things like no abortions; lowering taxes is something minorities need since its been way too expensive to live in this country right now as opposed to when they came here as immigrants

  • a better economy and the immigration issue are the main reasons I think people voted for Trump.

So you know there are many latinos that are conservative especially in Florida so it makes sense. Latinos come from different countries and think differently. they aren't a monolith group of people. Mexicans and Cubans have different interests for example.

I think there were a significantly amount black men that were voting for Trump though. For what I've seen a lot of minorities including black men were in favor of Trump.

  • It's your usual thing one-two generations back families from this or that country/continent came.

Now their children are thinking they are trully Americans because they were born in US. So they don't want any other immigrants in because they will "steal their job", "government will pay them social money", "they are uneducated", "they might be criminals", etc.

  • It's because of the economy. They high inflation and intrest rates have been painful for a many with higher living costs. People just want to blame somebody and the sitting president/goverment gets the blame. It's always like that.

  • First of all, I just want to clear up the fact that the only major demographic groups that voted more for Trump were white men and women and Latino men. I'm not saying you are necessarily, but I see an alarming number of people blaming certain minority groups for Trumps victory, when that is really not what we should be taking away from this. Instead blaming the voters, we should be holding Kamala's team accountable.

Does Kamala being non-white and a woman make a difference? Of course, but that is not THE reason she lost. She lost because she ran a bad campaign. So much of her campaign was about women's rights and look how white women voted. That's because they do not care, just like they do not care that he is a criminal/ra(c/p)ist/narcissist or whatever. So many white women will prioritize their race over their gender, but that's a whole other topic of conversation.

As the user above me wrote, inflation has been insane recently and people were convinced Biden was to blame. Kamala didn't successfuly distance herself from him, and at first wasn't even trying to. She alienated progressives with her stances on immigration and Israel, and she couldn't address the economic concerns of centrists. Values such as religion, social conservatism are not irrelevant but completely overemphasized. What does the average American want? More money in their wallets.

I read a lot that inflation was a big problem. U would want to vote for Democratic Party, but you also want to be able to feed your family.

Democrats did a really bad job addressing the issue the majority of people are facing, not enough money…

She should've gone way harder on worker's rights, specifically reached out more to the men in labor unions, not that they didn't try, but needed a different approach. They probably thought that the women's vote would carry them to victory, but we see how white women voted at the end of the day.

And that is a valid, correct concern.

History is not as important as current situation and future.

A new illegal immigrant is not competing for some White/White collar job, but for the blue collar job of the previous wave legal/legalized immigrant. So once inside the door, it is important to defend the door.

Dems are foolish to think past immigrants are duty bound to support new immigrants. And worse, when new immigrants are given a far easier path, benefits etc. compared to those who have waited years and struggled.

  • The modern Democrat party is a conservative party from the 1990s or early 2000s. They are anti-immigration, pro small business etc. Pro USA global police state. They literally have the policies the Republicans had 20 years ago. They also do cringe token liberal shit like land acknowledgments, which cost them $0/zero effort and doesn't rectify the problems of the past.

If the Democrats want to be relevant again, they need to stop this Neoliberal centrist BS. They need to return to being a party of the workers.

Increase the minimum wage, increase corporate taxes, increase capital gains tax so shareholders have to pay the same taxes as workers, replace private health insurance with a government option, expand social security, taxpayer funded public college tuition, organizing workplaces, price controls, public work programs for the unemployed, rent caps, and build lots of public housing for the unhoused etc.

  • Kamala is too socialist for a capitalist country like US! Also they aren’t dealing with illegal immigration which hurts the pockets of Americans! Inflation is insane due to incompetent Biden administration! They could’ve ended the war in Ukraine in the beginning but didn’t do that and only fueling more and more! Democrats promoted Kamala’s campaign as Identity Politics which was a big mistake! That abortion ban will be up to the states themselves and neither Kamala nor Trump can’t do anything about it cause it is Supreme Court’s decision! And Kamala’s plan about taking away guns was also a big mistake!

Majority of Americans have bigger issues than that which they didn’t address! They were just dumb as f*ck and they didn’t address what American Working class wants that’s why Trump wiped the floor with those votes!

It is not that Trump did anything good it was Kamala’s team that were f-ing incompetent about this campaign! So yeah it was logical that Trump would win even tho I thought Kamala would win because of how many people were hating trump and how media was extremely Kamala biased

  • The fact they pretended they didn’t have a senile president for 4 years and suddenly acted surprised and did a last minute change showed their true character and incompetence

  • you know the saying "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me." Well, Latinos and (to an extent) Blacks were tired of getting fooled by voting for the Democrat party. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Pretty much all hugely popular policies btw. It would be so easy for them to run on a platform of progressive populism, but they simply refuse because it goes against their own interests of capital accumulation for the elite.

Yep, also their donors would hate it.

Yes, women’s rights is always important, but the country does not just exist of women and if you want to be the leader of a whole country, you have to adress issues the majority of people are facing within the country. Ignoring workers rights caused them their lost. It’s easy to shoot at voters, but we should also look at where the Democratic Party failed!

Ever since Obama, just voting for someone to be the first something isn’t enough anymore

  • I think all minorities in America are tired of Democrats and Liberals using them for votes and them not doing anything they promised when they got in office. I'm not surprised Trump won, people are tired and just want change.

Yeah… this time you can’t blame anyone then democrats themselves.

Just thinking of minorities the moment they need votes is not a good look.

  • 2016 Election the GOP voters wrestled control away from the GOP ruling class. Making it more responsive to the people. Nominating a Washington outsider that saw Washington full of swamp monsters.

Ruling class - Washington career politicians, lobbyists, special interests and status quo.

Swamp Monsters - Power corrupted agencies, bureaucracies, bought politicians.

The GOP was a paper Tiger on upholding their principles, 'all bark and no bite'. Dems ruled the game and the GOP was happy with just cashing in with the Dems. During then 70's GOP pushed back on the Dems a change from being a complete wimp. Still GOP is not fully hardened.

Trump's first term caused upheaval in Washington's status quo. Both Dems and Reps became outraged. Their mutually self serving arrangement is threatened by this outsider. Dems calling it a threat to democracy.

2024 Election GOP electorate still calling the shots. Brought in more people who want their representation in Washington. Trump is the reminder of this change in the GOP. GOP is now more working class, a successful evolution.

GOP success will cause more evolution to stay a relevant Political Party.

Stereotypes weren't made as many don't apply anymore.
