As if anyone needs any more proof Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute Brand Rep rankings is a giant pile of dung, but here we are...

  • Apparently those ridiculous, corrupt and just plain stupid brand reputation rankings released again.

And didn't feature NewJeans in the top 100 at all.

    pasted-from-clipboard.png

So a... fan? reporter? Someone? called the Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute to ask why.

"I just had a call earlier, and the responses and handling were so ridiculous that I wanted to share. You're saying you'll sue for defamation?? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ okay then, let’s see where this intimidation is coming from."

    And this conversation ensued

OP: I called because I have something to ask. I reached out after seeing the press release, and I want to know why NewJeans' brand reputation index has fallen out of the top 100

Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute (RI): The press release was not issued by us. It was written by the reporters based on what they saw

OP: I know that. But I want to know why they're out of the top 100

RI: Think of it like FIFTY FIFTY's case

OP: What does FIFTY FIFTY have to do iwth this?

RI: We view it as being exactly the same as the case with FIFTY FIFTY, which is why they were excluded

OP: Are you saying that the decision is made internally, regardless of the criteria for selecting brand evaluations?

RI: That's correct. We see it as being the same as with FIFTY FIFTY from a legal standpoint

OP: NewJeans doesn't have any lawsuits or legal proceedings against HYBE like FIFTY FIFTY does, so how can that be the same? That doesn't make sense. I will make this fact known. What is your name?

RI: You shouldn't make it public; if you do, I'll file a lawsuit through my lawyer (in a scolding tone)

OP: If you want to file a defamation lawsuit, go ahead if I make it public. But please let me know the name of the person who is answering

They hung up and never picked up again

No further proof is really needed that the Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute and their nonsensical Brand Reputation listings are corrupt, not transparent, manipulated at the whims of faceless people in the "institute" and just pure shitfckery.

Me and Yama have been shouting this for months. NOW will y'all listen?

  • How could anyone actually make this public?

Asking a random employee their name so they can post it online? For what? So the random employee can get doxxed and harassed? That's unhinged behavior. I would've hung up on them too.

    :sweatr1:

  • Shout it louder for the people in the back.

The fraudulence of this list that still gets way more media play and engagement than it deserves (which is NONE) has been one of the worst kept secrets in K-Pop.

For YEARS, the list has made no sense whatsoever, but nothing exposes that more than not having NewJeans in the top 100 girl group brands.

How can ANYONE take this list seriously, when NewJeans is quite literally plastered all over Korea. You legitimately can't even fly into Incheon Airport without being greeted by walls and halls with the NJ members' faces and ads plastered all over them.

For their recent Calvin Klein ambassadorship, they generated 3.1 MILLION USD in value in barely 48 hours.

If you want data that is legitimately sourced and not bought and paid for, THIS is far more objective:

There is also a death blow I'm about to deal to that fraudulent index in my upcoming NewJeans praise thread.

    MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

  • If you work for a corrupt, stupid company... well... shit happens

A random customer service rep isn't to blame for the methodology uses to make these rankings. This is the equivalent of calling out a cashier because the supermarket ran out of milk. No wonder my SEA friends in BPOs are told to just offer fake names for these types of calls

Who gives a damn? That employee will survive. It's really nonsensical how you're hyper fixating on the poor little phone rep and completely ignoring the crux of the issue that is how transparently fraudulent this index is, indefensibly so.

This is the reason why people think K-pop fans are unhinged losers on the level of Swifties

Why would I say anything? I think the first time I saw you and others bring up concerns with the Brand Index's methodology, I said the points were valid.

  • It was obvious what was going on from the moment NewJeans started slipping and news outlets started pushing stories about them being replaced by other Hybe groups in the ranking.

Guess whoever runs it really likes golf

It's a good thing they were stupid enough to try to sabotage and essentially defame NewJeans in broad daylight like the spineless cowards and stooges they are.

Not having NewJeans in the top 100 of a supposed brand reputation index is like a sports media company doing an all-time greatest athlete ranking and not having Michael Jordan on the list.

There was no easier way for this list's fraudulence to get exposed than targeting NewJeans, Korea's favorite daughters.

Koreans came up with the expression "The world is NewJeans" and these scam artists really thought we'd all accept them going "nah there are 100 other girl groups with bigger brand value right now"?

    :meme-trying-not-to-laugh:

You are obsessing over something that is altogether meaningless and trying to gaslight me about being unhinged. Sure, Jan. Nobody gives a damn about the feelings of this rep, especially when they gave a completely bullshit response.

You act like this is some giant company as well, when it's literally just A GUY arbitrarily throwing this list together, and he's even threatened to remove groups from the list when he's gotten into spats with their fans.

This is the individual your heart bleeds for? And it bleeds because he's getting his arbitrary stupidity put on blast like it should have years ago?

    Please.

  • I've responded to people that disagreed with me on that point. I haven't spammed every unrelated post with that message, and I haven't kept repeating myself for no reason. I'm not gaslighting you: most normal people would consider it unhinged, especially in the context of a K-pop fandoms having a minority with a propensity to act out of line.

The rest of your post doesn't have to do with anything that I said. No one called this a giant company. No one is defending his methodology. No one has defended this random guy's behavior. Or at least I haven't.

If you want to discuss other points, then I'm happy to do so. To summarize:

    1) we disagree on the caller asking for the employee's name

    2) we agree that the methodology of this index from what we know seems to match other metrics including brand deals that have been signed

What else would you like to go over?

  • Things get lost in translation, but this phone rep was threatening legal action about their extremely questionable reason for excluding NewJeans from their rankings being made public. It wasn't even in reaction to the caller asking for their name.

And now it's public clearly, since we're talking about it.

Can we also mention how people try to defend this list by claiming NewJeans isn't ranked because of "negative headlines", when no girl group this year has had half as many negative headlines as LE SSERAFIM, the group who topped the latest list?

    Make it make sense, people.

I didn't want to talk about this shit-list again, but I need to say something.

I get your point, BUT what happened with LSF is not even close to what's happening with NJ. I mean, this is an ongoing shit for MONTHS, but LSF only got those hate posts for how long, 1 or 2 months? And everyone moved on.

I never understood how people can take this list seriously. Even if it's 100% perfect and not biased or anything like that, it's still just a freakin' SOCIAL MEDIA Trend list, nothing more, nothing less. It's not about REAL BRAND REP, never was and never will be!

People are way too obsessed with numbers and charts, and forget what's important, MUSIC!
