i honestly couldn't choose between which song to do again, so i figured i'd do a real underrated song this time. i'll be surprised if you even know this. i was watching some shinee vid on youtube and this song was in the background. and lemme tell you, i was shocked. like that shit was so good that i had to know what it was immediately. through some careful listening and googling skills, i tracked the song to find out that it was.....
fly high, shinee's ost for princess prosecutor, a 2010 drama. i've never seen this drama, but i'd watch it every day if it meant i got to hear this song in it. we all gush about shinee's osts, but i feel like this one isn't as talked about. i mean, i'd never heard of it until a few months ago.
well it's a pretty cute song and i love how the rap is in the chorus at the same time as the vocals. but it doesn't seem like it's under the vocals, like so much of their earlier discography where it felt like they wanted to give minho and key some lines but shoved some token rap in at the very end under a bunch of runs so no one could hear them. but yeah, the 'fligh high' bit is kind of a simplistic melody on its own, but the rap gives it more lyrical value, structure, and it drives the song forward. and the little descending scale thingy at the end of the rap bit during the chorus, which is then mirrored by background vocals is nice (:18, 1:33, 3:07). so i think the chorus works really well. it's kind of addicting tbh. when i first heard it i literally had it on replay all day.
welp. that's it. hope you enjoyed.
