I'm sorry, but is anyone else questioning the strategy or lack thereof from YG?
Their approach with debuting and promoting Babymonster has been utter chaos.
First, the entire mess that was the Ahyeon situation with Ahyeon was so poorly explained and even more poorly handled.
I don't know what actually happened behind the scenes, but in hindsight, they should've sorted everything out and just delayed their debut, although who knows if it ultimately would've mattered with the clowns running that circus.
Speaking of, their debut would've been okay...in 2013. In 2023, with the amazing creativity we see from girl groups these days, a year that was literally the most Korea has ever listened to girl group music, they released a song that felt dated and fell flat in Korea.
And I don't think their latest release is a great start to 2024. We're two releases in and I still don't know who Babymonster are. Not their concept, their sound or the vision of the team behind him. It's like they're playing darts blindfolded and hoping to land a bullseye.
Which is a shame. Because I think Babymonster themselves are easily the most talented group of girls that YG has ever debuted.
If this keeps up, it'll be safe to say YG is even more out of touch than JYP, which would be impressive honestly.
All right, I'm off to short YG stock
