I’m sure there must be a good reason for it, I didn’t watch the program so don’t know who the girls are, but if she didn’t pass the background check or got cold feet or sick then it’s best for her to drop out before debut.

Some people on reddit are speculating it's related to Seunghan's case. I only just remembered she got caught by that, maybe HYBE discovered something more and made a preventive action instead? Still messed up and sad though.

I think the same thing. She already has male 'friends' who spread her pictures before her debut to brag about it (not Seunghan, as it's found that the person is not him). This group can't afford to have a second Garam at all. They don't have Sakura and Chaewon fans to defend them, and they're also not the first hybe gg for Hybe stan to really protect them. They don't even have a huge fandom like Baemon, and basically, it would just hurt the group later.
