Whyknock, we need another history lesson now that Jennie is challenging Min Hee Jin for IT WOMAN status in Kpop.

Not sure about IU tbh.
My hunch is that she will have her worst performing comeback next year. Everyone thinks she's gonna pull a BB by destroying UL peaks as a result of pent up demand (BB's final comeback ended up wtih damn near 900k UL peaks if i recall correctly)... I think folks thinking she will do the same are gonna be in for a rude awakening. Unless ULs as a whole ramp back up next year, i think she will peak at under 500k on Melon.

IU will always do better in Kchart because Korean will just listen to her songs, it doesn't matter whether they're her fans or not, they will try to listen at least one or two to anything she release.
It will be different story if she debuting a group, being success in her career doesn't mean she can make a successful group.

Who is Jang Man Wol?
IU's legendary character in Hotel Del Luna. She's a better actor than singer tbh.

True, and no one will hit that 900k UL mark anymore, not even if GD came back or even if BB done another comeback. The chart has changed so much since then. IU will always do well on K Chart even if it doesn’t hit that 900k UL mark, certainly better than BP and Jennie. IU is the IT girl of SK. Jennie is really only that well known by the younger generation whereas IU touches across a much bigger demographic in SK. Not to mention people forget Jennie owes a lot of her SK success to YG, she debuted during an era where YG was thriving, and was pushed so much in SK like the next GD/CL. Across advertisements, her face was and still is plastered everywhere, it also helps that she is the top tier of what is considered to be beautiful in her country. I always wondered if BP didn’t have their visuals and were more like 2NE1, would they have thrived in Paris and be on magazine covers etc….highly likely no…

Yes, there's a prototype group with three IUs/IUses(?) released for this years ago as well

Worst performing comeback in uls? Undoubtley. Worst performing comeback relative to her other comebacks? Impossible (After all, her first ep lost and found exists)
Still likely (of course not certain, especially with the changed landscape in charts and no comeback for three years) that she will hit the roof or close to whatever the max ul might be today, and likely will be higher than anyone have had in a long time but as you say not sure if 500k is even possible today.
I dont think anyone have said she will beat bb 900k ul numbers or even be near , just that they think she will bring uls back up (dead house and all that), but i think the spillover effect to other songs not hers is minimal especially nowdays when people dont automaticlly listen to the same realtime top 100 chart as was common before.

Jennie does not strike me as the kind of person to actually go out and make a dynasty.
People are making a big tado about this.
But it remains to be seen whether it amounts to anything beyond mere vanity label.
Jennie is more "I like to be the queen and pampered.."
And less "I am the Queen and I will conquer".
