The idols actually performed live more often than not. The songs were timeless, instant classics. The choreography was fun to watch and easy to follow. The idols were more genuine and focused much less on looking pretty for the camera i.e. no fairy endings. They broke through into the West successfully unlike their predecessors who had tried and failed. They still regularly appeared on all kinds of variety and created meme moments that live on in infamy in their fandoms. Every group found its niche and owned it instead of chasing trends.
We'll never have a generation as ground breaking and legendary as the third.
