aespa’s Drama has what it takes to become their next biggest hit

  • it may have been jarring at first but it’s catchy addictive chorus is quickly growing on people in a way that I haven’t seen since Savage. Drama is starting to go semi-viral on Tik-Tok and has almost reached the total amount of videos Spicy has in only 1 weeks time.

From rising on domestic charts to continuing to chart on Spotify Global and Apple Global charts, it’s pretty obvious their “aespa core” hyper pop sound is what people love and want from them the most in terms of global audience (both west and east).

Drama imo has that addictive catchy hook aespa are known for whilst also maintaining a good balance of vocals, harmonies and melodic raps. All in all, I predict this to become their next biggest hit since Next Level with the way it’s moving on all platforms.

Let’s wait and see though. In the meantime here is a Karina fancam to cleanse your soul.

  • I also think the stray away from the Kwangya concept has helped them rebrand a little bit and try out new sounds. This Era is already so different from their last eras. I love Aespa because they can pull off any concept and do it well. The styling + production value + concepts + and teasers are all top-notch and cinematically very interesting and unique which has helped Drama rise quickly and become trendy.

  • It also couldn’t have come at a better time. With SM plans to release a (7?) flagship GG next year, this era/sound has definitely gave Aespa an unique identity.

I’m guessing SM’s new GG will be more cookie cutter, love song, back to basics fem kpop (trying to follow some of IVE/NJ success).

Contrast that with Itzy, who release Loco before Nmixx’s debut and Loco was seen as Itzy’s start of decline (if not their last release, mafia in the morning before Loco).

SM put Aespa in a really nice position to stay relevant.

The kwangya-ish lyrics are still there though toned down

They literally repeating my GIRLS and MY WORLD in chorus. Mentioning Real world in bridge

  • You mean with the villain like Black Mamba in MV?

To me, the sounds are still the same. Concept wise still futuristic except with absent of element of Kwangya in MV (now they are in Real World)

    Yes.

It is futuristic, their production for this title track is much better than their last title tracks. The song flows better.

Nothing is wrong with their Kwangya concept, it's just how they executed it in their last comebacks that is the problem.

We can thank LSM for that I suppose. For me, I think it's a new chapter for them especially after Spicy, but if it sounds the same to you that's fine.
