The War of the 6th Coalition against KPop, led by Taylor Swift and participated by Drake, Doja Cat, SZA and Beatles, ended with a huge Coalition Victory and a devastating KPop defeat.
The War of 5th Coalition would have been the battle between Jungkook and three country singers, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen and Luke Coombs.
The War of 4th Coalition was when BTS released that white elephant album with three new songs in Jun 2022.
The War of 3rd Coalition was when BTS fought Olivia Rodrigo and a few others.
The War of 2nd Coalition was when BTS reached to the #1 il Billboard Hot 100 in 2020
I think the War of 1st Coalition was Psy and everyone else back in 2012.
In short the Wars of Coalition against KPop is everyone ganging up against KPop acts when they make a major attempt in the West.
Wars of 1st and 4th Coalition ended with KPop defeat because of Korea. The mods don't like what I have to say about it so I will stop here.
The War of 7th Coalition is probably going to be fought in early 2026, when BTS vs every pop figure you can name will fight one last, final battle which will be remembered as long as music exists.
Queen Elizabeth II's funeral procession at Wellington Arch
Although United Kingdom is not what it used to be, they still think Waterloo is something to be remembered in 2022.
Now, rather than retelling the story of the upcoming 7th Coalition against KPop, it will be more worthwhile to talk about why the coalitions against Kpop show no sign of ending.
Frankly speaking, KPop does not come from Western tradition. Although it was based upon shows done to entertain US soldiers stationed in Korea in the 1950s and 1960s, it used Korean, a language not in the Indo-European language family, and came from a different culture.
Latin Music is different from KPop. Latin Music is Spanish, and it is at least a culture people in Europe and Americas can understand. So it could be tolerated.
But KPop is ultimately alien, so while recording companies allow it since it makes money, the singers don't like it since it eats into their pie.
So they will fight, fight and fight KPop until it can't raise enough strength to fight anymore and crumble down.
Which is why BTS domination was so important since as long as BTS was completely dominant there was no possibility of a coalition strong enough to matter.
At the height of BTS' power,
The following nine people dominated world pop for 2021
BTS (Hybe) 164 Awards
The Weeknd (XO Labels) 82 Awards
Ed Sheeran (Gingerbread Man Records) 76 Awards
Taylor Swift (Republic Records) 63 Awards
Olivia Rodrigo (Interscope / Geffen) 59 Awards
Justin Bieber (ultimately Hybe) 58 Awards
Dua Lipa (Warner) 55 Awards
Megan Thee Stallion (in dispute) 48 Awards, most of them earned thru a collaboration with BTS
IU (Edam) 46 Awards, all of them won in…
BTS' faction
Justin Bieber (Hybe at that time)
Megan Thee Stallion (allied to BTS)
Ed Sheeran (allied to BTS)
Neutral
Taylor Swift
Dua Ripa
Hostile
The Weeknd
Olivia Rodrigo
(At that time BTS' domination was so strong that even IU was ranked among the world's major singers, since at that time YG did NOT promote BlackPink. I know it is an oxymoron but it appears IU will probably the only local singer in history who was ranked among the world's greatest singers)
Since Olivia Rodrigo was just starting, and IU's influence only affected Korea (although that proved to be decisive in there end - more on that when she returns, probably in early 2024), the only viable coalition could only be raised by the Weeknd, who did not find any takers.
But now the Coalitions became much stronger and much more dominant, and BTS' individual members proved to be unable to stem the tide.
The 7th Coalition against KPop will probably be decisive. Is KPop prepared for it? Given the way Bang is behaving, probably not.
