I think it's done to get fans to settle down. For context these types of jokes are common in Asia and none of it stems from racism or discrimination. Fans issue with the jokes come from the issue they see in their own life and societies they live in. Not the reality of Korean people in Korea and in wider Asia.

As for Minho, Minho is a grown man not a child and he's from a generation of people who are not overly emotional and sensitive and will flat out tell you what is wrong or if you truly offended him you'd find your jaw on the floor. Not the type of person to ever disrespect!.

Now these jokes have been said before, and I'm 100000% positive that if he had an issue with it he would have told them members about his displeasure many moons before and thus this current situation would never have happened.

But since these jokes continue it's likely he doesn't fuckin care about it and see them as harmless jokes, the members on occasion do make fun of each other and know what is stepping over the line for each other. Only person that has a right to be offended or bothered by this is Minho himself, if he doesn't do anything about it nor should the fans.

But they are still public figures and people who consume their content can feel hurt by those remarks.

If they feel regretful and apologetic, there is no reason for us to come in and defend them.

Why making it a gender issue? This is not specific to male idols at all. Several female idols have said colorist comments too. SNSD is an example.

I’ve seen it mostly from the male idols in passing (NCT, Exo etc). I didn’t realise an SNSD member was also reviving that treatment.

Defendinfg colorism and racism?, nothing new in this forum. Key and Taemin have always had this shitty attitude. Key still believes that his diva-savage persona will keep him relevant (he never was), maybe less colorism and more good songs will let him escape from FLOP-land.
