This year, the rookie boygroups are bigger than the rookie girlgroups (first time in years) but overall it’s indeed the girlgroups that are getting bigger

Yep, i was racking my brain for GGs this year and all i could come up with were the TripleS groups, Kiss of Life, and Limelight. ZB1 and Riiiize are bigger.

Boy groups are still by far the biggest sellers
There are quite a few multis that listen to many Kpop girl groups and think that makes like 25 groups popular because they stream their music once in a while, but in practice they don't do much to support these groups. Having hype in Kpop circles doesn't always mean much. Look at Everglow. I have seen very few people who were actual stans, but lots of people who "loved them" during comeback eras. People streamed their new songs for a while, but that was about it and they were considered to have huge hype in international Kpop circles.
I listen to lots of Kpop girl groups, but having people like me or multis stream a lot of different groups isn't doing much to sustain the majority of them.
Of course there are big girl groups, but even the biggest of them have less sales than quite a few boy groups.

Agree, I have yet to see a BG stand out in the way GGs are. They look the same and the music is the same.

In what world am I a western troll? Because I don't like BG music?

Nah, because this is typical Western crap to say about Asian people:
They look the same

I mean, it is a fact that 2nd gen and 3rd gen boy groups had much more of a presence across all metrics, not just fandom driven ones.
Love Scenario, Really Really, Energetic, Call Me Baby, any Big Bang or BTS song.
I used to sweat a bit when my favorite girl groups released music in the same window as the huge boy groups. Now not so much.
FiftyFifty would be, by far, the biggest rookies this year if not for the lawsuit destroying any chance of them getting their names out there for any good reasons.
