StayC regressing to cute/kidz bop music instead of going for mature/elegant sound like Twice. Good or bad?

  • StayC is having a reverse Twice experience. Twice abandons their cute music, accepts charting worse in Korea to get more international fans, sell out stadiums in the US, but StayC is doing the opposite, they are losing international fans but charting better in Korea these days after doing cuter, bubblegum songs like Teddy Bear, Bubble. Are you disappointed with StayC's direction of music? It will be hard to StayC to sell millions, tour stadiums and chart on Billboard if they stick to this Korean sound.

  • they are constantly entering melon top 5, top 10, top 20 with all releases

this means that for now even in Korea there is demand for this sound

both girls and BEP said that they will move into more mature sound

and when they were talking about it before Teddy Bear release it was kind of set like maybe MAYBE possibly after TB

but suddenly Teddy Bear became a hit in SK and Poppy semi-hit

so they've sticked to it for longer time

another thing is what Yoon recently said that they were sure Beautiful Monster will be a hit and it wasn't so they were surprised negatively by that

meanwhile they weren't so sure about Teddy Bear yet it became super popular and it was demand for STAYC performances in university festivals, city festivals, and all other concerts etc.

also after all it's BEP there will be day when STAYC will have their own Eung Eung, So Sick, Dumhdurum, Dilemma etc.

  • Cute can work globally if the song is good. NJ and Cupid are examples.

However run of the mill cute songs are only effective in Korea, where they lap up anything cute.

As a note, Aespa went cute with Too Spicy and Gidle's Queencard was cute sexy, so some groups that were more mature in concept are embracing cute now.

Many groups will run the risk of losing existing fans when they change to a more mature concept later, because when everyone is 23+ and some look like they are 30 because those with PS do not age well, cute isn't going to work.

Added - For Stayc, I think its fine, because they need to make money to have longevity.

Edited once, last by K-PL ().

  • Spicy and Queencard fun sexy summer song. Nothing cute about this songs. Examples of cute kidz bop songs: Power Up, Cake, Stayc last two songs, Some early Twice songs. I don't think every bright pop song is cute. This is where the overseas fans are wrong. Also nothing cute about some Red song Red Velvet: Peek A Boo and Russian Roulette they try kill themself or kill the man in the Mv.

  • Not a fan of their last songs but they were smart

they saw that every 4th gen GG were kinda walking on the foot of each other by going for strong music and image

so they decided to target a niche with the Cute concept considering that no kpop groups is currently doing cute, help with BEP who are well know producer, they had every card to do well

  • I don't think StayC has that many dedicated international fans anyway.

And with that I mean the ones that actually stan and don't just say 'I like them', stream a song twice after a comeback and then go back to the groups they actually stan.

So, for them it's probably more important to focus on the Korean market
