How is it 2023 and kpop groups still have to file a lawsuit to get out their agency?

  • That shit screams late second gen/early 3rd gen. How is this still a fucking thing???

I'm blaming both parties. I blame the kids for wanting to be kpop idols. Why would anyone pursue this career? There's only a 2.8% at success. Would you gamble actual money with those odds? Of course not.

And I blame companies who are broke as hell to begin with who act like they can feed, clothe, and shelter these damn kids and still have an extra 10 million dollars to spend on making a god damn kpop group.

Then both parties act like they have no idea what went wrong and start blaming the other and then everybody ends up in a court room. Contracts should be 3 years tops. That's plenty of time to make something happen. If it doesnt then everyone can go their separate ways.

  • well drew bee if all kids in korea decided not to be idols we would have zero kpop idols because all idols start off with a dollar and dream. sinister korea will not fix these laws and stop these corrupt stealing sinning slum companies from making these contracts and binding poor sad no brain no life no intelligence high school drop out failed math 10 times idols for life. These nugu slum companies are as broke as it could get, yet they still put 20 dollars aside to make these contracts. It's astounding. Of course sad fans will never stop supporting these no name companies (or these big millionaire companies) and they will continue to do this everyday until thousands of artists are trapped in the nugudom dungeon waiting to turn 45 so they can collect their last check and book it.

This is why only the big 4 should exist.

  • If you're bad in school or just come from a rich family, what else you are supposed to do?

Being an independent artist is just way harder in korea than it's in some other Western countries.

Besides, the majority of these kids signing up to be in an idol group, don't even actually want to be in one. It's just a means to an end.

The majority want to be actors, and some would like to pursue a solo music career, and in korea being an idol still is the best way to get there.

  • SM is being sued by CBX too. So it’s not just nugu labels that are problematic.

There is a difference between making no money on a nugu label and making less of what you are supposed to make in a big label.

Then you need to consider the level of exposure which would still make it better being in a big company, outside the whole slave contract and stuff.

I know it's not really a desired outcome, but still is better than the alternative.

  • Because it's a contract

it's legally bind 2 sides to respect the conditions of the contract

so it's totally normal that they need to wait for the end of their contract or file a lawsuit to get out of their agency or it would be a breach of contract if they don't do this, and they would end up in a bigger mess

and if they accept for idols, every people will just use this argument as a case law for their breach of contract and it would just be a massive mess

So Loona are actually the villains. Not Blockberry?

  • Part of it is Alot of these kids joining kpop is mainly a means to an end they want money to take care of themselves and their family and they see it purely as a job, don't even like kpop or their fans, they can hide those feelings well A few things heavily drive it. One the insane rat race of competition here, getting a top of the line job is the holy grail in Korea, work for Samsung etc there's literally an entrance exam for it. Add this onto the competition to get into the best schools. Then factor in the inflation and high costs of living in the country and the ridiculous housing market and the somewhat lack of building codes and high poverty rates, yes there's big slum/shantytowns in Seoul. With all that stuff added up it's a perfect recipe for people to be fooled into kpop as the way out.

Some of those idols you see having real fun exciting relationships with their members is real, because for a decent amount of those kids these people give them safety comfort and happiness to some, that is the only family they know. One of the reasons i don't support cancel cultures and getting members kicked out etc. You never know what hell they came from, not all come from humble beginnings that can return to a " normal" life. This isn't America where there's some kind of safety net.
