I'm skinny, I've been skinny my whole life, and when I was younger people would call me a skeleton, a stick, they would take their hands and put it around my wrists to compare how skinny theres were to mine. it was horrible.
In K-pop there is a lot of skinny shaming, you have to be skinny but not too skinny but also somehow have honey thighs, the standards do not make any sense. These two videos show skinny shaming the best in my opinion:
(TW. The videos have talk of harmful diets and eating disorders)
The worst for me is when people assume I have a ED because I am thin. I have been called bony and ugly, It really is just as bad as fat shaming and its really prominent in K-pop, especially with female idols.
I dont like when people assume idols who are skinny must have a problem or have had surgery, when everyone has a different metabolism and body shape. You cant just go around and call someone sick and falsely diagnose them with a disorder because you think they are too skinny.
Fans shame their idols when there skinny and say their have disorders and need to eat, which is wrong, if someone is struggling you shouldn't put them down more.
I do understand that fat shaming is prominent in K-pop as well, most likely more than skinny shaming, but that doesn't mean skinny shaming shouldn't be taken just seriously.
