Skinny shaming is just as bad as fat shaming

  • I'm skinny, I've been skinny my whole life, and when I was younger people would call me a skeleton, a stick, they would take their hands and put it around my wrists to compare how skinny theres were to mine. it was horrible.

In K-pop there is a lot of skinny shaming, you have to be skinny but not too skinny but also somehow have honey thighs, the standards do not make any sense. These two videos show skinny shaming the best in my opinion:

(TW. The videos have talk of harmful diets and eating disorders)

The worst for me is when people assume I have a ED because I am thin. I have been called bony and ugly, It really is just as bad as fat shaming and its really prominent in K-pop, especially with female idols.

I dont like when people assume idols who are skinny must have a problem or have had surgery, when everyone has a different metabolism and body shape. You cant just go around and call someone sick and falsely diagnose them with a disorder because you think they are too skinny.

Fans shame their idols when there skinny and say their have disorders and need to eat, which is wrong, if someone is struggling you shouldn't put them down more.

I do understand that fat shaming is prominent in K-pop as well, most likely more than skinny shaming, but that doesn't mean skinny shaming shouldn't be taken just seriously.

  • I honestly dont know why people's bodies is anybody else business. If it disturbs you so much then come fix me. Im not you and your not me so stfu. There could be reasons like depression tied to them being overweight or underweight, or maybe it's just genetic. I really do agree with you.

  • Also, in so many songs, apparently it's offensive to call and sing about someone being fat, but it's ok to sing and call someone a skinny bitch.

    The double standards

I've seen both. Thicc is the new thing that's said now or whatever. They both are stupid and literally disrespectful. The disrespect towards woman in music, from both male and female artists is disgusting.

I'm a curvy girl. I've been on the opposite side before too, why don't we just love and respect each other. Who cares. I don't care what you're like on the outside, I care about inside.

  • honestly, i’d prefer to be skinny rather than fat. Through like, healthy dieting and restriction for a week or two. But obviously some people cannot help it, be it with medical conditions, mental health, or other factors both internal and external. People honestly shouldn’t fat or skinny shame anyone else unless they actually know what life they live, and even then that’s really pushing it since it’s not any of their business.
