What was your first impression of kpop?

I loved it right off the bat. It was like I finally discovered something I really liked.

Mine was "how the fuck are they dancing that well and sound so good"... i still ask that to this day

I didnt have anything revolutionary thoughts on it. I liked it and I never thought it was weird or anything. I just liked it

Got introduced through Hyuna's Ice Cream. I liked how colourful and joyful the mv was. And surprised about Hyuna's duality: both a cutie and sexy gal. :D

That KPOP fans were kind of an odd bunch of people...

Meh. The first songs I heard were not for me.

But then I found IU

i thought it was cool and entered a koreaboo phase

My friend had showed me it and she watched it everyday in school, even tho I liked it I was kinda embarrassed lol

My first kpop song and mv was BTS 'Dope' and i thought it was super cool. I remember listening to the song on repeat all day...

I did see a few kpop MVs around a year before I became a fan, I thought it was a little weird though lol

It was pretty cool & revolutionary for me. To see and listen to Asian artists (as an Asian) was a first for me. Living in the USA I never had the thought of listening to Asian music when I have songs in English on the radio and everywhere else. The only Asian music I'd hear in my house (before I discovered kpop) was my parent's Vietnamese jazz room music from DVDs and CDs. Kpop was finally something that was Asian music but catered to a younger audience. It was a time where I wanted to get more into Asian pop culture.

I liked it as soon as I heard it in 2011. I thought it was different but cool and catchy.

For me it was kind of revolutionary, cuz I never heard any Asian songs before (besides in anime), I had my introduction with Gee, like, the members were so beautiful, and the song was sooo catchy, I also loved the concept of mannequins that came to life at night, so it was a pretty positive first impression

I thought it was corny, but also a familiar sound! I felt like they were singing in English but I knew they weren't
