EVERY LUXURY LABEL ON THE PLANET WANTS A PIECE OF BTS
Everyone knows that BTS is the biggest boy band on the planet but until 2023, it wasn't clear just how badly the world's luxury labels wanted a piece of each individual BTS member
On March 30, RM was confirmed as the first proper Bottega Veneta ambassador by creative director Mathieu Blazy — the Kering-owned house is still social media-averse so there really wasn't anywhere else to make the announcement, aside from the Bottega app, probably.
This essentially sealing the deal on BTS' worldwide appeal. A historic appointment for a historic musician from a historic band but also the latest in a recent line of high-profile luxury-BTS crossovers.
Suga became a Valentino ambassador in January; the next month, Jimin joined Dior and J-Hope Louis Vuitton.
This month alone, V finally became a "CELINE Boy," Jungkook brought Calvin Klein to unforeseen new heights, and Tiffany & Co. signed Jimin, making the 27-year-old the only BTS member to double-up on deals.
Jungkook's Calvin Klein deal was particularly interesting, as it was the first time that a BTS member became an ambassador for a relatively affordable clothing brand.
Not that any of the BTS-approved brands are hurting for money, mind you.
The only member without a luxury label of his own is Jin, who's currently undergoing his mandatory Korean military service. Presumably, the second that he returns to civilian life, Jin will be snapped up with the quickness, because luxury brands can't get enough of these guys.
Not that BTS is the only K-pop group to inspire combative recruiting from fashion houses, of course — peers like BLACKPINK and EXO have their own deals with other opulent imprints — but no one's inspired a feeding frenzy quite like the BTS boys.
Truly, getting famously reticent Bottega Veneta to devise an extremely rare ambassador deal is an achievement in and of itself. Who else but BTS
