Would tiktok be banned in the US?

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, we value being an open & transparent society that doesn't usually ban things for purely political reasons. On the other hand, China hates us and actively bans all our stuff, which is the main reason they even have their own social media platforms instead of using ours like so much of the rest of the world, so why not return the favor?

You should ban drugs or guns in America not a damn website that is just like Youtube

We did ban drugs. A long time ago. It created the illegal drug trade and lead to the incarceration of millions of people. Did you think they were perfectly legal?
Guns won't be banned any time soon. The political climate (and the sheer abundance of guns) doesn't allow for it.

Would be ironic as America was caught spying on citizens through electronic devices like phones and TV, and on select other VIPs around world

Should (TikTok) it be banned in the US?
apnews.com/article/tiktok-ban-congress-hearing-bytedance-china-biden-ceo
Gap grows between (USA Citizen) TikTok users ...
And (USA Government = USA HOUSE Reps.) Lawmakers ...
on potential ban ; 2023.03.26
--- Begin ---
Observation -->
TikTok (PRChina) is surely controversial (USA) ...
Reading the above URL(s) from 'APnews' would give one an accurate idea that NOT everyone in the USA wants TikTok.com to be gone.
(My view) Attacking TikTok seems more a (Republican) TRUMP Party notion ... Perhaps 'left over' as a result of TRUMP being *supposedly* 'sabotaged'
in his (Year 2020) TULSA , OK (USA) Political Rally (COVID problems) ...
Herman Cain (notable TRUMP supporter) DIED supposedly from being infected by COVID at that particular TRUMP Political Rally.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandria_Ocasio-Cortez
'AOC' = Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez = USA House Rep. (NY) ; Info
theguardian.com/trump-tulsa-rally-scheme-k-pop-fans-tiktok-users
'AOC' is quoted (below) from URL above ; (June 2020)
(Begin Quote) --> ... New York Democratic congresswoman (AOC) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a (verbal) 'shot' at (TRUMP employee) Brad Parscale while thanking K-pop fans for their diligent trolling ... “You just got rocked,” (AOC) she said, “By Teens on *TikTok* who … tricked you into believing a million people wanted your white supremacist open mic enough to pack an arena during Covid (spread) ... K-pop allies, we see and appreciate your contributions in the fight for justice.” ... The Trump campaign pushed back, accusing Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) of encouraging a foreign-owned platform (TikTok = PRChina) to interfere with USA elections and politics ... TikTok is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance ... <-- (End Quote).
So , the USA HOUSE (Reps.) is now ('Tail GOONer' McCARTHY = SPEAKER Leader = Year 2022) controlled by the (Republican) TRUMP Political Party ... And , the animosity toward *TikTok* (and Ms. 'AOC') seems still very much 'alive' for believers in 'THE STEAL' of TRUMP losing his USA PREZ re-election in Year 2020 ... I would argue that the *failed* TULSA (OK) Political Rally for TRUMP = a *BAD START* to the re-election of TRUMP ... One *might* argue that *ASIANS* using *TikTok* gave TRUMP a *big push* in the WRONG (LOSING) DIRECTION for Year 2020 ... Definitely , the Ms. 'AOC' comments helped to give her a *lot* more visibility in USA Politics (as a TRUMP opponent).
--- End ---
As to TikTok = Banned in USA ... I would choose a 'NO' on it ...
BUT , *no problem* for say USA Government to make *note* (communicate) that TikTok.com = PRChina Business Firm ... And fine , to communicate any *concerns* that USA Government has about TikTok and PRChina ... IF that TikTok.com started doing 'hacker' style activities , directed at USA Citizens , that would make it
a bit more to consider.
IF you wanted to BAN TikTok in USA , I would choose to do that
with say a *two years* WARNING period that TikTok will be 'closed out'
for USA users ... That way , USA Citizens can *plan* ahead to make
a reasonable transition to a different website that accomplishes
much the same as TikTok.com does it now.

Agreed. They do ban lots of Western stuff in China and then make their own versions of it that they can control.
So, they can miss me with the underdog narrative in this case.
