Will The "BOYS PLANET" Group Be Like The "PRODUCE 101" Group To The Korean General Public?

To the Korean general public? I doubt it. Mnet has yet to top the first two seasons of Produce in terms of the general public interest. While the latter groups like Iz*One and X1 has managed to garner a following from survival show stans and international fans, they simply didn't have the same public interest.

Boys Planet does appear to have more following than Girls Planet, but survival show stans and boy group stans do not represent the general public. People who were around during Produce and Broduce can tell you that the buzz was completely different.

When's the last time a boy group has teared the charts up? Wanna One had 10x the buzz and following and they peaked at debut with Energetic. Granted they did a lot better in terms of album sales, show appearances, CFs and other things, but tearing the local charts up isn't exactly what boy groups do in Kpop.

I saw posts on reddit where people were comparing them with Produce 101 Japan and than build the members that may suit the winner-line up the most around how JO1 and INI are designed

IDK any of the characteristics of the participants to even know if they fit to what people made up

I can only tell you about the characteristics of some of the members of INI and JO1 so you can build your own opinions in case you know the participants tokki-swag

JO1

1. Issei, better known as Mame or Mamechan had ranked #1 on Produce 101 Japan season 1. He is a big simp for the JPop-group GENERATIONS and felt super proud when he got to meet his favourite group. He also works as actor and if I'm not mistaken also had a role in Kamen Rider or something. He is also very experienced in dancing and used to work as dance teacher when he was a teenager.
2. Ren, he is the most experienced dancer in JO1, he is also one of the more calm and relaxed members even tho he sometimes can be funny too. He also used to work as dance teacher before and was also backup dancer where he danced for example for WANNA ONE and PENTAGON. Ren's random conection to PENTAGON trought how he had worked as dancer before also lead Hui to give one of the songs he wrote to JO1 (Hui said he had no idea who else could get the song when he said he oneday wanted to write a Japanese song and didn't knew many Japanese people to be able to give the song to someone and than he remembered Ren and realised he debuted in JO1, so yeah). Ren is also part of the group's most popular ship
3. Takumi is the type of guy where people got shook when they saw his glow up when they found pics of when he used to go to high school. He literally went from looking like a school-bully to being the group's flowerboy. He is also one of the cuter members and also one of the more calm like people in the group as it looks like. Takumi is also the sad dude who gets shiped with Ren
4. Shosei is the cutest bean but still can look quit hot too sometimes (or is it just me who likes men with long hair?). When he was on Produce he was allways so jealouse of everyone who knew how to do things he didn't knew how to do. He for example had no idea how to use letters cause he could only write in Kanji and so he got jealous since he needed 30 minutes to even write his name without using Japanese signs
5. Shion is the little weirdo of the group, obsessed with aliens and likes to prank people (even Kcon wrote on one video as caption that he was the prankster of the group xD), he can also speak Korean since he is a former FNC trainee and is friends with Soul of P1harmony. When he was asked how he ended up in Korea he only said "I didn't knew how to sing, dance or speak Korean but they took me for sure cause I'm handsome"
6. Ruki is one of the members who is seen as one of the most handsome members by fans. He is also one of the people who tries to be funny but ends up laughing at himself instead. He was in another group before and so he had some quit bad experiences of being an idol since his former group was badly misstreated, so when he met the richest member of JO1 for the first time he brought up a few times how bad he had it before and that he allways used to be broke and can't imagine how it would be to be a rich person
7. Keigo, the group's richest boy. His family has over 100 million $ on the bank and Keigo grew up with a lot previleges so he allways said how he was just having soooo many pocket money or that he was almost only wearing gucci and he was even spotet wearing a jacket that costs (no joke) 10.000 $. Keigo is very handsome and people are falling more for him since he also started to work out and gained some pretty thicc muscular arms. He dosn't really seems like the typical rich kid but he for sure will make you know that he got the money
8. Syoya is also one of the pranksters of the group who tries to make everyone laugh, but he also can be cute sometimes
9. Junki is the best vocalist of JO1 and also extremly handsome, he is also one of the other weirdos in JO1 since he considers "rice with curry" as a drink

INI

1. Masaya is INI's leader and the best dancer of the group. He used to work as dancer before and also apeared on many different Youtube accounts where he was dancing with other JPop-idols together before his debut. He is also one of the people who tries to be cute and funny but might ends up looking like a confused person that could laugh at himself. He is also the best friend of Ren from JO1 since they know eachother for some years cause they had worked as dancers together. When Masaya apeared on Produce 101 Japn season 2 and was the most famous participant in his season as like Ren in season 1 people were really rooting for Masaya to debut with INI and when he did people hoped so much to see both dancing together and yes there are videos of Masaya and Ren dancing together
2. Hiromi is the cutie of thre group and a total ray of sunshine, he also used to work in a petstore before and is very passionate about the job he did there and loves animals a lot
3. Shogo may look a bit like if he would be a bully, but he is actually a very sweet person. He can speak Korean and is a former trainee of the Japanese company Johnny's Entertainment but also a former trainee of the Korean company CUBE ENTERTAINMENT and he is friends with Yuto of PENTAGON
4. Kyosuke is the type of person that unintentionaly looks sad all the time and so he sometimes even can look like as if he felt emberased and about to cry when the situation actually should be happy and funny. He also likes to be in videos since he used to run a TikTok account before
5. Takumi has the loooks that scream he could be the most famous with girls, but not in a bad way, he is actually very sharming from his looks. He was in 2 groups before and also had apeared as regular cast on a reality TV show before.
6. Hiroto has the looks as if he was about to beat you up, but he is actually very harmless and friendly. He used to work as dancer before and for example apeard in MVs as dancer as like Famous by Taemin. He is also one of the best dancers of the group since he also participated in championships and gave workshops in dancing . He also seems to be good in English since he took a test for highschool students and mastered in it when he was just in primary school at around 9 years old.
7. Jin is the group's youngest member and their cutest one. He is also one of the funniest members or at least he tries
8. Fengfan is originaly from China and lives in Japan since 2016 now. He can speak 4 languages (Japanese, Chinese, English, Korean) and is like the biggest KPop-fan in the entire group. He used to be in a KPop-cover dance group during university and also had worked at Starbucks before. He is also one of the best looking members and unintentionaly sometimes dropes the "cause I'm a foreigner" card as like: INI makes 5-5 teams and has to exclude 1 member to get eaven teams. Fengfan takes it too personaly and says "Why do you exclude me? Is it cause I'm Chinese?"
9. Rihito, a guy that allways looks like as if he was about to blame himself. When he does something funny he looks like as if he wanted to say "it's fine that I'm the only one who even laughs... sure... it's fine, I swear I am not sad"
