Why did Hybe cancel both Trainee A and Iland 2(rumors but seem very true)?

  • Hybe only mentioned that they will debut Koz/Pledis/American girl group this year so pretty sure Iland 2 is scrapped, the website for Iland is reset too. Back in 2021, Trainee A and Iland 2 are the Hybe groups most likely to debut, they even tease some members, yet now both has been cancelled. Why so?

  • I felt it was pretty clear that Leo leaving took a huge L on the group.

    He was the main producer, main lyricist, main composer, main vocalist, lead rapper, top leader candidate, English speaker, and was the one who helped the boys be introduced to the Western "swag", since they was supposed to be a hiphop+r&b group.

    So looking at all the roles he had, its obvious why the group couldn't go on.

    And I know its easy to say that the "others could've debuted" or "Leo could've got replaced".

    But its hard nowadays to find someone thats a all-rounder like that.

    And BigHit has a set goal and vision for their groups...looking at BTS and TXT.

    So if even 1 thing messes up..its done, and gonna have to restart.

  • For iland, I think HYBE might be looking at the benefits of the group??

    Like BELIFT LAB is owned 51% by CJ Entertainment, while HYBE only own 48%.

    BELIFT LAB by the way is the company Enhypen are under and the company any other iland group debuting would be in.

    Where as if they debut another girl group from Source Music, HYBE owns 80% of that group, and they get majority profit and other benefits, if the groups does really really well.

    Personally, I rather they do the latter, and debut a new girl group from Source Music.

    Le sserafim will be 1 year old this May, and I think it'll be nice to have a 3rd fully owned HYBE girl group.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Currently HYBE owns
    NewJeans 100%
    Le sserafim 80%
    And if its true about the new Source Music girl group, then they'll be 80% owned as well
    Which is good for HYBE
  • ILAND 2 was postponed because Boys Planet was postponed as well
    it's all to be decided by MNet because if CJ ENM want to make ILAND 2 alone they will and don't give a fux about co-operation with MNet via Belift
  • That'd be a truly dumb thing to say indeed. Debut is an investment, debut is a commitment. You don't just debut a group because you have trainees in your disposal. Not when you're the biggest company.
    Exactly, you get it.
    Cuz so many Trainee A fans, till this day actual, keep saying the others could have debuted together and BigHit didn't have to "leave them hanging" lmao
    agree I think it’s just postponed, but for I-land 2 they need co operation via belift or else it wouldn’t be the same. 4 out of the 7 members in Enhypen were bighit trainees and their music is produced by hybe producers. It would’ve been another girls planet without hybe’s imput.
    Yeah it makes sense. Which agency teases a debut for 2 years? I think bighit felt they weren’t ready. If bighit wanted them to debut, they would’ve done that a long time ago and they didn’t seem very impressed during debut evaluations, let alone now when Leo left and who was the most talented member imo, or at least if it comes to singing. I do hope to see Jj and woochan one day but that might not be under bighit. The other members aren’t bad either, but as a group I think bighit had higher hopes or they decided the concept they had in mind wouldn’t work for these members
    this is what you get when you create a group around one member. He didn't even have to be in a group, he could have debuted as a soloist
