Why can’t SM sustain their success after 2nd gen while Hybe/Bighit keeps getting bigger?

That's what I'd like to know too. Second gen was SM's golden era but seems to have slipped away in my opinion.

people already said this, but i will repeat it because i think many have started to truly believed their own downplaying - that bts isn't absolutely dominating and far ahead from every other pop act. Bts' brand brings in billions each year for hybe, something even whole companies with multiple succesful acts can't reach. it's one act that build a ~11 BILLION corporation.

Hybe is still swimming in bts' money I highly doubt they'll survive without them. Even if BTS leaves they'll still be getting profits through them , that's how much money BTS made for them.

BTS alone can compete against big brands just using their name & that alone is a fact on why. Plus their sales every year are BIG with just BTS alone. BTS funds HYBE / Bighit therefore that's why HYBE is excelling rn .

and cause they have both BANGTAN SONYEONDAN & cause "we have an ARMY"

and cause BTS bring sooo so much attention to HYBE it managed to stay on top & is on top with many groups such as SEVENTEEN , ENHYPEN , LE SSERAFIM , NewJeans , TXT , e.t.c

but mainly because of world-known "pop culture phenomenon" BTS

SM is successful.just because someone else is more doesn't mean SM is homeless and under the bridge. They sold as a whole over 12 million albums last year. Leave SM alone

I think it’s kinda idiotic to say SM can’t sustain their success, when they are releasing what? 41 albums this year?

You also have to think about longevity. SM was founded in 1989 and still a premier company and easily the largest company in kpop (HYBE is no where close to producing as much content as SM)

So it’s been 34 years. Let’s see if HYBE is still a dominate company in 34 years…….

Different cycles in life, SM was the groundbreaking company a few years ago, now Bighit struck gold with BTS and has everyone believing they are undefeatable (profit-wise) but before New Jeans got big they were shaking in their boots at the prospect at what would happen when BTS enlist.

And as others have said, you can't compare SM's years in the business with HYBE's short life.

Also you know that the creator of BTS has links in the industry right? HE is not jus some guy with a good nose for business, he used to work in SM or have connection to LSM himself.
