fluet when I was 8 to 10 in a 2 year course but it sucked cause I had a dumb teacher who spend half the time playing games with us and the other half was her scolding the "bad" students by saying we would suck compared to the other kids who were "better" in playing the fluet
Later on in 10th grade I played bass but my teacher pretended I was not giving it all to play cause we had 7 keyboarder and 6 guitarists aswell as 2 drummer but only 1 bass and she actually didn't allowed me to turn up the volume so she never heard me play and so assumed I was not even playing -.- it wss so useless to talk to her saying I was playing but she most likly just can't hear me trought the other instruments and than she said I was a liar

thats good!! its never too late, but i understand what you mean. but im glad you're finally able to learn it!!
in band i picked flute bc thats what was pushed on me, but i truly wanted to play trumpet but i was in a position where i couldnt really switch instruments. if id been a trumpet player, id probably have had stayed in band until high school tbh

Yes, my mom signed me up for piano when I was little. I played for like a couple of years, and even had recitals. I hated it, so she let me quit. But, now that I am pursuing a career in music, I hate that I did and wish I had kept with it.
I was also forced by my school to join the band in middle school. You could either go into orchestra or band. It was mandatory, and I chose band. I chose the trumpet as my instrument, and I played for the 3 years I was in middle school and never again. It was fun, but I was just too lazy to keep it up.
When I was a teen, my mom bought me a guitar that I asked for to try teach myself. But, again, I was lazy and now that thing is just sitting and collecting dust lol.

Aww... Why do people push instruments on kids?
As you say though, it's never too late to learn. You could still give trumpet a try as a hobby!
