WJSN members speaking in 'past tenste' during fan-con raise speculation about contract renewal

    Fans point out that the members of WJSN frequently spoke in past tense during their fan concert, leading to speculations about their contract renewals.


    Fans shared their strange feelings after attending Cosmic Girls's 2023 fan-con, 'CODENAME: UJUNG' this past weekend from January 7-8 at Bluesquare Mastercard Hall.


    According to those who attended the two concerts, the members of Cosmic Girls "frequently spoke in past tense", then "corrected themselves". Some also pointed out comments made by individuals members at the end of each concert, such as:


    Bona:

    "Thank you so much for coming so early in the new year, even in this cold weather. We were also able to receive a lot of good energy from you all with this show, our first show in a while. It was really great to perform and spend time together. Thank you all for making our youth shine brightly."

    Dawon:

    "2022 was a worthwhile year for us, as we met our kind and beautiful UJUNG and reflected on ourselves, and also shed many tears of joy.     Many of the members also shed heavy tears toward the end of the concert, leaving fans with "mixed feelings".

    I am pretty sure Bona will not stay in the group, she probably want to do acting full time.


    Dawon, has never really fit in, maybe her personality is too relaxed compared to the rest of the crazy ladies.



    Outside those 2, I could see the other 8 signing up for 3 more years.

    My theory is that they were sad because they know the group as it is will be ending. I just can't see Bona renewing. BEG4DAWIN mentioned Dawon and that's not too far fetched either - she had a long hiatus due to mental health issues before so I doubt she's loving the idol life.


    Starship followed up with a statement to stop fans from jumping to conclusions as everyone started talking about them disbanding. I also don't buy for a second that Starship would not want to renew the contracts just because IVE exists - WJSN is a successful act by itself selling 200k+ with their latest release. They shouldn't be lacking money to invest either. IVE is guaranteeing financial stability for all of Starship and it should have the opposite effect, it should ensure the other groups stay afloat even if they are not making huge profits. Somehow it makes me cringe when people make comments like 'they have IVE now so no reason to keep them around', I think it's the opposite. It is in the companys best interest to pursue any profitable (sometimes even non-profitable) venture and increase the revenue.


    Seems like WJSN will do a fromis_9 and continue with less members. That's my best guess at least. The reaction they showed at the fancon ending was in no way normal so something is surely happening.

    WJSN losing a member or two will not stop the party lmao. They've already lost some and been fine.


    They definitely have some to spare. I can see some of them not renewing, but I doubt the whole group will disband. Even if only the units stay around and Yeonjung goes solo.
