Another thread made me inspired to make this, but in terms of revenue and profitability this is true. BTS actually outgrossed SM, JYP & YG in yearly revenue. It's beyond my imagination what a feat this is.
In their 2020 yearly report they generated;
SM - 579 billion won
JYP - 144 billion won
YG - 255 billion won
BTS (group) - 674 billion won
Everyone was struggling with pandemic and no live concerts and BTS still proved us wrong.
Two years after, BTS is still leading in revenue despite only releasing 1 anthology album, 3 days concert in SK with limited seating and 4 days concert in Vegas while KPOP is thriving in concert this year.
Jan-Sep 2022 revenue;
SM - 591 billion won
JYP - 230 billion won
YG - 266 billion won
BTS (group) - 745 - 807 billion won (contributed 60 - 65% in hybe)
BTS still had more even if you combine JYP & YG's revenue altogether.
To give you a visual;
SM has numerous subsidiaries and sublabels. They also have a prolific artists and actors in their hands.
JYP has 3 sublabels (JYP- USA - CHN - JPN), multiple investments and joint ventures like the BUBBLE app with SM ent. They also have 9 active artists.
Then YG, they also have numerous sublabels & subsidiaries and businesses outside the Kpop industry. Rn, they have 5 active artists and 2 soloists.
And BTS just ate them all up.
With no world tour announcements and 1 anthology album.
