Is Mamamoo impact underestimate by Kpop fans ?

  • just a reminder that when Solar had channel for 10 months she said the most she make per month was 100k$

she then had just 1M subs, now she has more than 3M

and in this case she splits that money with RBW

Hwasa has channel but she doesn't do much

Moonbyul is active on her but she has less than 300k subs if I remember well

people also seem to underestimate the money that Mamamoo makes for all that variety shows, hosting some singing shows, or Naver Now shows, Solar did musical, basically if they would have member who's acting then it would be like all kill of entertainment industry

also RBW is now collecting those companies kind of similar way Kakao, and HYBE do,

    WM was smart move

DSP was dying dog, but in same time it means price for it was low

we will see what they will get from that Urban Works acquisition, that company is producing variety shows, and dramas, so maybe they want to have 'insider' to put more of their Idols into variety shows, which is always good, and it kind of is a full circle because Mamamoo were the ones always known for being good in variety and guesting in those drinking shows

  • also a reminder for young generation lol

  • Probably. They must bring in a lot of ancillary revenue for RBW, their album sales havent blown up.

I think Kpop needs this kinda consolidation, which unfortunately means many trainees and even some groups could be let go. Combining companies usually means folks doing redundant jobs get downsized out, same with the groups, WM's GG trainees were let go since RBW probably didnt want the trainees to cannibalize Purple Kiss' revenue. Less groups competing means more chances for remaining groups to thrive.

Right now we have the Big 5 with Kakao, Hybe, YG, JYP and SM. I think we could eventually see the rest of Kpop consolidate under just a couple mid tier labels like Cube and RBW. In fact, we could even see consolidation at the very top, to the point where Kakao merges with SM, YG merges with Hybe, etc. In the US, we have three major conglomerates that control the entire industry, Warner, UMG and Sony. There's no reason why it wont happen in Korea, in fact it should be even easier since Korea is only a fraction of the size of the US market.

  • also RBW has great line up of in-house Producers

  • They have always been underestimated by international fans, not by Korean fans.

The lack of a recent smash hit song as a group may lead some people to believe otherwise, but Mamamoo spent their peaks as a digital powerhouse that could contend with any other girl group while also having an incredibly strong, loyal fanbase and great popularity with the general public.

Believe and Listen to Mamamoo (BeLisMaMoo) became a popular phrase in Korea (and later adapted by the fandom as a whole) for a reason.

Their success story as a girl group that rose from the bottom to the top with nothing more than their talent and fun personalities, from what was a very small company at the time, can't be overstated.

And if international fans want to underestimate their impact when we look back at the third generation, there will always be dedicated MooMoos like me who will be ready with the facts to show why that's a bad idea 8)
