the real reason why the top 3rd gen girl group choose not to disband

  • compared to 2nd gen where every top group from KARA to WG to 2NE1 are disbanding (only T-ARA and SNSD never declared that they're disbanding), only one top group from 3rd gen choose to disband which is gfriend... why?

because they know how hard it is to stand as a soloist in the saturated industry..

take a look at 2ne1, sistar and wg, both a powerful household girl group have multiple hit songs, but none of them really survive or made it to the top.. and overall only few make it as a top celebrity like taeyeon, yoona, suzy, sunmi, and hyeri..

member of red velvet, mamamoo and twice learn the lesson from the previous generation and decided that it is just better to stay as a group, even they are not doing as well like their peak, they still have that loyal fanbase and the group name is still relevent.. their international fans also isnt going anywhere and even growing like Twice and RV

i bet no one ever noticed kara's member solo activity yet they manage to score well on their reunion comeback due to the value of their group name, KARA

  • Because all the GG you mention from 2nd gen didn't have the popularity among the GP that 2nd gen gg members who succeed had

2Ne1 was big as a group but never as individual because of their "exclusive" image that YG was pushing on them

Sistar did have some solo activities but none of their member was able to truly connect with the public the one who was coming close was Bora thanks to invincible youth but Starship always prefered to Push Hyorin when the public wasn't connecting with her at all and Bora was never able to surf on her rising popularity

Same for Wonder Girls members they never were able to get a lot of attention as individual and it's one of the reason why SNSD members had such a ease to surpass them

Now if you look at 2nd gen gg members who had a lot of recognition as individual they all did well in their career solo at a certain time even if they aren't at their top anymore

Hyuna was already a big name when she was with 4minute that's why she didn't have any problem to survive after 4minute disband

SNSD members had a lot of individual activities during their group time

Suzy was the only one getting solo activities during Miss A days

Hyeri also got a lot of push after real men which help her to secure a successfull career after girl's day

Nana and Uee were the trendy girl of After school and were getting a lot of solo work so they are also able to have solid solo career now

It's not really about being hard of standing as a solo after your group disband but more importantly it's how your company promotes you when you were active with your group and if during all these years you were able to get attention and truly connect with the public which is one thing that all the girl you mention weren't able to do that's why they end up flopping
